Janette really looked after us and made us feel at home at the Chequers. She even gave us a lift to our party when our taxi got stuck in traffic. Our room was in a barn annex and had a modern contempory feel, quite a surprise in a traditional village pub. We would recommend a stay at the Chequers and... More

I have visited The Chequers on a number of occasions when visiting relatives locally. The new host was very pleasant the service good and the food of good qualtiy. I have no reason not to visit there again when next in the area. More

We have just come back from having a lovely dinner here. We were going somewhere else, but drove past on the way and it look really nice, what a good thing that was. The meal was gorgeous. Husband had steak and I had the beer battered cod and it was so nice. Proper home cooked chips as well. The puddings... More

I booked this back in Feb 11, between booking & going the pub changed hands. Jeanette the landlady that has taken over is great. The rooms are nice & the village is lovely (you need to drive everywhere). Will definitely go back, looking forward to seeing what Jeanette does with the place. Would highly recommend More

Stayed here for one night on our way down to Southampton. What a lovely place. A very typical English pub with 3 rooms. We had two of the rooms, which were a delight - in a separate annexe, one downstairs and one upstairs, with a door to the annexe and then a door to each room. Very clean and comfortable.... More

The owners were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Rooms are of a high standard and have character. Overall it is a great place to stay. Difficult to get a taxi there / back on a Friday night so if you're going out at any distance from the pub you may wish to consider staying somewhere closer but otherwise... More

Very friendly check-in; and a charming room, though it lacked storage space (no wardrobe). Ideal for an overnight business stay, but not so great for a longer leisure break. The room was immaculate though. The bed could have been a little more comfortable. The least appealing aspect of the room was that the shower fed through into a macerator unit,... More
