We spent a long weekend at the Blue Ball with another couple, who had been there before. The original plan was to go with their dog, and do plenty of walking, but the dog wasn't able to join us - so we tackled a walk he would not have managed! Our arrival was toward the end of a prolonged wet... more

Have just returned from the blue ball inn which i would definately recommend. The location is wonderful and lots of fantastic walks on your doorstep with no need to drive. It helps if you like walking uphill though. Thats all I will say! The scenery is spectacular. I had never been to this part of the country and was amazed.... more

I have stayed at the Blue Ball twice now - it is a truly genuine English pub with friendly owners (and dogs!!) and staff, great food, nice rooms and a log fire to curl up by. Across the road and through the churchyard is a one of the classic vistas in England; the coastline of Countisbury Hill down to Lynton... more

Located in the remote tiny village of Countisbury, this beautiful ancient inn has a part built in the 13th century. Large, yet cosy. Great selection of beers and wines. Staff friendly and helpful. Our room was complete with uneven flooring and walls to complete the overall image (Plumbing is modern though, thankfully). Room furnish with quality pine and 5' bed.... more

I found this place by accident, even though I'd passed it many times to get to Lynton etc. You know what it's like when you're on a great road with fabulous scenery and you sometimes miss the things that are just in front of you. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and my partner and I were made to feel... more

This pub genuinely does welcome dogs - with a bowl of water, a biscuit and lots of patting and attention! They are welcome throughout the building and never made to feel in the way however big or small. The staff are friendly, the food delicious and the lovely regulars in the bar make you feel one of them. A great... more

We were lucky enough for our car to break down in front of this establishment yesterday and am very greatful for the help that their wonderful staff gave. We have 5 children and we would have been really stuck without their help. The food is great and it was a pity that our recovery provider wouldn't authorise an overnight stay!... more

Just returned from a short break at the Blue Ball Inn where we stayed Sat, Sun and Mon nights. We arrived late on the Sat night and found that a table had been reserved for us for our evening meal which was very welcomed as the place was very busy. We did have to wait a long time for our... more

The pub food is mediocre, and breakfast service dreadfully slow. Hotel is directly on a busy road so you hear every car racing by, even though it is supposed to be a quiet location. I booked a multi-night stay and these people put me in a room right over the pub entrance with an orange sodium floodlight glaring straight in... more
