We were slightly concerned when we discovered The lands of loyal had been taken over. However we had no reason for this. We were greeted by friendly and efficient staff. Our room was very clean. Dinner was very good and the service was excellent. more

Amazed how a so called 4 star hotel is offering a Dinner menu fit for your average pub. The main courses offered items like steak pie (which is served with mash potato and carrot), chicken with haggis, salmon and a steak. That was it. But it not only sounded like pub grub, it tasted and was presented like very poor... more

My husband and I got married on August 1st this year and we had our reception at the Lands of Loyal Hotel. Many of our friends and family were staying at the hotel for the weekend to share in our celebrations. The wedding reception itself went very well and the manager of the hotel is excellent, positive and knows his... more

Typical of many hotels in Scotland - overpriced fro what it supplies! A round of sandwiches for 5 cost £25 - and was 3 small not very fresh white bread triangles each with unappetising fillers. Rooms not up to scratch, with bathroom carpeted (yuh!), living room style light unit above the bath / shower (safety!) and way overpriced at £150... more

We used to dine regularly here & loved it. We knew the staff, waxed lyrical about the food, and enjoyed the old world charm of the place. Under the new management the charm has gone. We've been a few times since the change, but have now given up on it. It's not a bad place, just rather average. Its location... more

What a perfect venue! We could not fault the level of service prior to the event or on the day. Nothing was too much trouble. The entire team were friendly, helpful and happy! The food was excellent and to be able to offer our guests (+70) a choice of starter, main course, dessert was a definite selling point. The venue... more

Booked two nights in this traditional country house hotel. Found the bar and waiting staff to be very friendly and attentive. The owners were very welcoming and informative about places to visit, especially the local golf scene which was the reason for our visit to the area. Highlight was enjoying a scrumptious steak overlooking the live Ceilidh band playing in... more

I spent two days/nights with two friends on a golf weekend using the hotel as our base. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was gorgeous and plentiful and the facilities were great. As we did not know the area the help we had on getting tee offs was fantastic. Overall we had a wonderful time in no small part... more

Lands of Loyal is under New Management and it shows. The service was friendly but not attentive. standard of food was poor, although the Soup de Moule was a sheer delight! Seemingly the chef is to be replaced in 2 weeks time. Breakfast was appalling, toast came ready buttered (I don't eat butter) and it took 10 mins to get... more

Terrible Shame We used to go every year for a post New Year dinner with some very old friends. The Lands of Loyal used be a very friendly informal but special place. The food used to be excellent, not stuffy or pretentious but locally sourced and well cooked. The wine list used to be interesting and good value. This year... more

Management response from

The above attack has caused great hurt and distress amongst us all at The Lands of Loyal. We will hold our hands up to suffering problems with the food over the New Year period but I am pleased to announce the arrival of a new, talented and very capable chef who will quickly put this behind us. From what we...
