We decided to stop over here between Sicily and Sorrento for one night after reading the reviews on trip advisor. We were a bit weary after the drive (and our gps steered us wrong) on arrival we were offered an espresso whilst we completed the check in. After the day we had, we booked into the restaurant. We were greeted... More

It does look a bit of a blockhouse, but is pleasant enough inside. We were lucky enough to have one of the rooms overlooking Altomonte and you get a great view of the village. The light at sunrise and sunset can be excellent. You can even see the sea! The barbieri family all contributed to make it a good experience.... More

We have celebrated our wedding in Altomonte (Palazzo dei Giacobini) and stayed at Hotel Barbieri in December 2010. What an incredible experience. Michele Barbieri and his family are very professional yet make feel you like an old friend. The service they offer is impeccable and their kitchen is amazing: they transform simple homegrown ingredients in delicious Italian/Calabrian dishes. All our... More

Felt like we were at a convention venue. Hotel is used for weddings, receptions, conventions. Lacks the charm of the town. Rooms very modern as was the hotel. The restaurant was just average. If heading to Altomonte, I would recommend Il Castello di Altomonte.

Conveniently close to the A3, half-way from Rome to the toe of Italy this hotel on a hilltop is a wonderful refuge from the madness of the autostrada. Our hosts were fantastic, the business is family run and the staff were terrific. As if this wasn't enough the food was to die for. We had one of the best meals... More

I've been to Italy many times, but this is the first visit to Calabria. It won't be the last. As far as the hotel goes, the service was great, the food was terrific, and the desk clerks were most helpful. The view from the hotel was most magnificent. I've never seen such beautiful scenery. Hats off to the staff at... More

We stayed in Hotel Barbieri in late Sept 2004 being our final stop on the big European trip. It was wonderful. The hotel is located on the outskirts of a 14th Century village atop a large hill with panaromic rural views. So far it has only largely been discovered by Northern Italians during their summer vacation. It is no longer... More

This beautiful hotel overlooks the Pulino mountain range and the lovely town of Altomonte. We enjoyed a six night stay in comfortable large rooms with a balcony. The bathroom is a bit small and only consists of a shower stall. A buffet breakfast was served complimentary with the room, which we chose to eat outside at a table on the... More
