The rooms are a little basic, but given you should be spending your stay at the Unesco heritage sites, the surrounding area (we'd recommend a daytrip to Geibikei gorge) or in the excellent on site onsen, so what.
The kaiseki style multi course dinner is truly fabulous. Breakfast is nearly as good.
From the outside this place looks very ordinary....
