Arrived to our room in the early hours of Sunday morning, the room was absolutely freezing. The room took a long time to warm up, it would have been nice to come into a room with the heater turned on. All our room consisted of was a bed and that was like sleeping on concrete. Honestly I think the lab... More

The Lab is located at the base of the biggest resort in the region, Happo 1. With an epic resort a 5 minute stroll away as well as a plethora of backcountry options from there, its a no brainer to stay there if your a keen Skier or Snowboarder. Those not so keen on venturing out to the bars every... More

This is the second time I have stayed at The Lab and this time I stayed for over a month. I met so many interesting people and made some great new friends. 90% of the people who stay here are keen Snowboarders or Skiers so it was never hard to find people to talk to or go riding with. Great... More

Stayed at the ab for 7 days. The place is placed perfectly within a short walk to the Happoone resort. Ok rooms, at a fair pricing giving stay and ski lift passes. Breakfast included, but this had a pretty low quality. Overall an affordable place to stay if you just want a simple room. The downside was pretty poor service... More

I would honestly recommend This place to ANYONE in fact I already have. My good friend josh and I arrived there at 3:45am very tired from traveling from Australia, had barely slept on the planes or buses there so it was nice to walk in and see a welcome sign with my name on it! we had our room to... The Lab Hakuba was a fantastic home base for our ski trip in Japan. I Cannot speak highly enough of the staff with their attitude towards helping out the customers, pouring us beers and just being all round good blokes, The homecooked dinners and breakfasts were of the highest quality, the shower facilities were adequate and clean, and the rooms... Amazing lodge accommodation. The massive common room and bar makes it really easy to meet new friends and have a good time. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the place is always clean! It is going to be really hard to pick any other place to stay next trip to hakuba! Also, you can leave your computer, ipod,... More

I travelled to Hakuba in March '11. Obviously this was a very hard period for all of Japan, with the earthquakes and tsunamis happening. But the staff at The Lab Hakuba handled it all in their stride, even though some of them had family in Tokyo they were worried about. They even fascilitated the return of our group from Nozawa... Where do I start? I'll never ski in Australia again. I'll ski NZ again (I didn't think I would after going to Japan), but Japan, Hakuba is going to be very hard to go past next season. One of the things that really did it for me, was the great service from the crew at this place. Extremely accommodating, friendly,... More
