I visited Lyngen Lodge with a friend from March 16th for a week. It seems incredible that Lyngen Lodge can provide luxury so far inside the Arctic circle, the team at Lyngen Lodge were excellent with us; Steve is a very talented chef, Pernilla a great host, nothing is too much trouble for the smiling Lynda and Matt is a... We spent a fantastic ski touring week in Lyngen Lodge from March 16th onwards. Everything was done to meet the highest quality standards. First on ski touring, I needed to be reassured after the avalanche accident that happened in the region a year ago. We got a very clear briefing by the lodge owner first thing sunday morning after our... More

Pleased you enjoyed your skiing with us and that you felt relaxed and confident with our guides. Just to add some clarity to your initial concerns regarding the avalanche accident in 2012, the incident had no direct connection with the Lyngen Lodge or any of our guests. We are a rescue support point for the region and when requested by... More

We stayed at Lyngen lodge in March 2013. Pretty remote location....The mini-bus trip from Tromso airport takes 2.45 hours. As we arrived we were at first a bit surprised not to be directly by the water as the picture on the webiste gives you the impression that there is no obstacle between the lodge and the fjord. In fact, there... More

Very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us during the skiing season. For your information and those reading reviews we are reconstructing all bedrooms and doubling the sizes which will result in increased comfort for all future guests later in 2013. We do indeed have a road which is hidden from view, it is necessary to have this so guests... More

The main purpose of our trip was to go and see Aurora Borealis and we were not disappointed. We stayed at the Lodge mid Feb 2013 for 5 nights and the amazing NL appeared over four nights out of our 5 nights stay. A very pampered way to see the Lights, just step outside the Lodge to view the magical... More

My partner and I stayed at Lyngen Lodge in Feb 2013. The location is wonderful and in a very beautiful area. Unfortunately while we were there they had the wettest weather in 47 years which meant low cloud and not much to see. The food is wonderful. I give 5 stars for the food. They will accommodate and dietary requirement.... More

We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. Norway due to it's high index rate is overall a more costly country than many other countries in the world. Your comment on alcohol prices are actually set and monopolized by the goverment and there is nothing any hotel or restaurant establishement can do to change the taxes on prices on... More

Yes, the bedrooms are small. But you really do spend time hanging out in the common areas which are very conducive to this sort of thing. It's not cheap, but it's a definite premium experience and you will be well looked after. This is the sort of place you check into, relax, kick back, and don't think about the price.... More

Lyngen Lodge provides a great location for observing the Northern Lights. It sits at the base of beautiful mountains close to the shores of a fjord and away from light pollution. Cosy, warm, peaceful and romantic with a great atmosphere and excellent hosts. The lodge is beautifully designed to blend in with the local environment and has fantastic views of... More

While I agree with most of the previous reviews in that it is a beautiful, quiet location I think there are too many negative points to keep getting 5* reviews. The rooms are described as small – this is an understatement. The last time I stayed in a room this small was on a boat on Doudtful Sound, New Zealand.... More

Firstly we would like to thank you for taking the time to write and highlight some issues that were important for you to review. I will further expand on your issues. The property Lyngen Lodge is an Arctic mountain lodge that was thoughtfully designed in true Scandinavian mountain style. The bedrooms have been purposely designed in mountain lodge style, small,... Could the Lodge possibly live up to the expectations caused by travelling with a husband who has already been there twice on ski touring trips? Yes!!! The scenery is breathtaking and the sea safari, particularly for non-skiers, is a great way to see for yourself both the mountains and the fjord - the day we went we were fortunate enough... More

I will not repeat all the superlatives regarding the Lodge but I will say that I agree with the vast majority. We have just spent a wonderful few days at the Lodge but also in the area exploring the great and wonderfully peaceful outdoors. We travelled specifically to see the Aurora (and were very lucky indeed). Here are a few... More
