We not only stayed at Traquair House but got married there. It was an excellent experience, from our first contact with the event coordinator to the time we checked out. The pink room was lovely, large, beautiful views onto the maze and hills. The bathroom was comfortable (but unfortunately not enough hot water to have a hot bath!!). There is a house keeper who will show you around. But other than that, you are left to yourself. Great if you want complete quiet and seclusion. Little things tend to add... more
We would like to respond to the following points made: 1. Apologies for the hot water problems - these have now been rectified! 2. Bottle openers now in rooms. 3. Regarding the other small points we would like to make it clear that Traquair is a family home, not a hotel and guests are looked after by the housekeeper here...
I, too, couldn't pass up the opportunity to stay in the oldest occupied house in Scotland, and the warm and genuine welcome at Traquair was the perfect opening for our trip.
