At 280 ChF per night and per couple for half board this is not a cheap location. Don't expect any luxury either: common, basic facilities on each of the three floors. But it is a unique destination. To be reached on foot or a combination of ski/snowcat, the latter provided by the hotel. At 2300 m elevation it offers nice... More

You have to merit this wonderful historical hotel and restaurant built in 1888 on the top of a beautiful mountain in the center of the Valais. To reach it by foot, snowshoe or by ski you have the choice between two itineries: the easy one pass by a skislope and then half an hour of walk on a good track... More

This was a great experience. First you need to reach this hotel. But then what a place - what a view. Forget the world and enjoy yourself in a unique setting.

The hotel has a spectacular location overlooking the valley. It is an enjoyable 90 minute walk from St. Luc. If you enjoy history, you will like the fascinating old building but if you prefer modern luxuries, this is probably not a place for you. The rooms are comfortable although small but showers and toilets are shared and very basic (bring... More

The hotel is 600 m higher than St. Luc, min. 90 minutes' walk, on > 2350 m elevation. More than 100 years old, it tells you how the English High Society, for which it was originally built, traveled. Much is renovated, but the architecture is retained. The shower facilities are towards one end of the corridor, the WC's are between... More

Historic hotel with great views. Although definitely not worth the price (chf 140 per person) - while you get less than what you can get in a hut. And the historic charm definitely dors not outweigh an average dinner, the shower/toilet in the hall and super small rooms with almost no privacy. We should have stayed at Cabane Bella Tolla... More

Three of us stayed here while doing the Haute Walkers' Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. All the guidebooks say it's an experience not to be missed, and they're right! The hotel dates from 1882 and until a few years ago was almost unaltered. Some of the refurbishments (modernised dining-room, fire escape) slightly detract from the charm but there's still plenty... To find a hotel in the alps with unspoild nature, historic background and some 2300 meters above sea level you have to come here. The place is unique. If it wouldn't be a hotel it would be a museum: Two centuries ago British and other distingushed society used to go up there on the back of mules. Also today there... More
