The Hotel Baren in Wilderswill is a good choice for a comfortable B&B near Interlaken. Located in a much quieter (and less expensive) location than Interlaken, this hotel provides clean, comfortable rooms and a good restaurant for breakfast and dinner.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Walker Ryder hiking tour and found the place to be well suited for us. The rooms were old but everything was clean and the staff was friendly and efficient.

Breakfast was generous with many alpine amenties like fresh butter and cheeses, good meat selections and even fresh eggs for boiling. Fine bread selections and good coffee. The dinners were also good with a friendly and efficient staff serving good tasting and full course meals.

The only drawback was that the hotel is a bit of a hike from the Wilderswill train station and during the time we were there, the main road was under road construction so it is not easy to move luggage up the slope to the hotel... more
