Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I met a friend for lunch at the Crown, the staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. I had a ham and leek pie followed by a delicious salted caramel tart. Great to have a place you can rely on! I would definitely return and will be recommending it.

Set in a pretty Essex village with lots of beautiful walks , The Crown sits proudly in the centre of the village. As avid followers of the Chestnut Group , this was the final pub/hotel in the group we have visited and we were not disappointed! From our dog friendly room to the cosy , homely atmosphere , lovely food (breakfast was among theist we've had! ), friendly staff and lovely manager , we found everything just lovely. We had a lovely 24 hour stay and all meals were well made, tasty and presented well. It was my husband's birthday and we'd saved enough members points to earn our free night - a real bonus! It really is worth becoming a member as the freebies you get along the way are so worth it and each establishment is of a similar ,high standard and set in lovely, pretty villages and towns around East Anglia - a great excuse to get out and about and see what East Anglia has to offer.

This is my happy place, lovely pub good food staff and accommodation. Our room was lovely with a very large bathroom. Small negatives comfy chairs etc a little grubby plus our room was a little dark, bed a little hard and had a crack in the bathroom sink. To be expected I suppose with the amount of customers etc. didn’t ruin our stay as the positives outweigh the negatives

We booked a room here as it was reasonably near the Suffolk Gin Distillery where we had a gin experience booked, and it was a great stay. The staff are lovely and friendly, our room “Boxford” was comfortable and quiet with a good size bathroom, and well equipped with tea and ‘proper’ coffee. We had breakfast included and portions were a good size, and there was a good choice. We both felt we’d like to come back and stay again.

We had a superb stay. Our ground floor room was spacious and beautifully appointed. We looked across a quiet grassy area to fields and beyond. Very comfortable. Food at dinner was first class. The inn has taken on a number of new staff who are still learning the ropes but everything worked and service came with broad smiles. Would definitely like to return. The garden in which you can dine or drink is an absolute delight,
