The Grand Hotel might be more aptly named the Modest Hotel, but this modern establishment on the main square in the UNESCO-listed town of Trebic met our needs. We were among the few guests when we checked in (the desk staff spoke decent English, but is more comfortable in German). Our room was stark but clean, with a small bathroom. The real value of this hotel is its close proximity to the town's two major sites, the Basillica and the Jewish Quarter. We walked easily to both, and up the hill the moving Jewish cemetery. We ate dinner at a nearby restaurant, and had breakfast (continental) in a mostly darkened hotel dining room. As we left, nearly every door on our hallway was open; apparently a bus tour was arriving that night, and they were cleaning the rooms to get ready; with few guests in April, they apparently were waiting until all the rooms needed servicing before bringing in a maid.
