This hotel is set in the middle of a large area of farmland, at the edge of a small lake, near which livestock graze. In seems to be in the middle of nowhere, though the nearest town is only a few miles away. It has a homely feel; the decor is tasteful, simple and rustic, but clean. Our ground floor rooms had small terraces furnished with a small table.
The pool is ample, with a separate area for children, and there are peddaloes and canoes on the lake. There are mountain bikes and tandems (though a little worse for wear) and stable with Lusitano horses. There was a superb (ex-army) instructor who went in daily to give lessons. We also loved our early morning cross-country runs round the lake.
The food was traditional Alentejo fare; cooked superbly, followed by truly irresistible desserts.
It was a quiet but truly relaxing holiday, which my two daughters (age 10 and 15) and husband also loved.
