The very small town of Mata Ortiz is very well known for the amazing potters that it has produced for several generations. It's hard to believe that such beautiful art can come from one small place, and from so many different people who live in that place. The adobe Inn is the ONLY place to stay in Mata(literally). They have 15 very clean and simple rooms. We basically just showed up and were able to get a room. They don't have an office or front desk. We wandered in to the dining area where we were greeted by one of the owners, Jerry. He welcomed us and layed six sets of keys on the table. We each took a key, and went off to our rooms.

The rooms are all double occupancy rooms, with two double beds and a small bathroom in each. They are very clean. The beds were moderately comfortable. Mata Ortiz has some water issues.
