A nostalgic return trip to Caithness after 10 years away.

Stayed at the Northern Sands in 1998 and just chanced that they would have a free room on my arrival. They did..room 6.

I had told my travel companion this time, about the Hotel, especially how I arrived very late on my last visit and the hotel was shrouded in the thick green fog common in these parts. Not too scared!... upon opening the front door it creaked like Draculas Castle!

Back in 1998, The hotel was well lived in, full of character with beautifully clean bedding and bathroom. The food was great.

This time, the door still creaked (which made us laugh our heads off), the hotel is exactly the same ( we were given room 6)!! and was apparently the only bed room yet to be refurbished.

The food was great, the chef/owner? had no problem rustling us up some VERY tasty sandwiches as we had missed dinner and the breakfast kept us going ALL the next day!
