We had a night stop here on our drive between Wellington and Rotorua. We didn't arrive at the motel until late, and reception was closed. However, there was a note taped on the reception door with our name and room number, plus a mobile number to phone if we had any problem. They had left our room ready for us, unlocked, with the light on, plus our key on the table on top of a list of nearby eating establishments. The room was spotless, with comfortable beds, and excellent ensuite facilities, t.v., kettle, and a cupboard well equipped with dishes, glasses and cutlery. There was a restaurant within walking distance, that served adequate home cooked food, and the town is just a few minutes drive away. It cost us NZD98 (Gbp38.00) for the room, and we had a very comfortable stay - definately recommended for the night if passing through Taihape. more
