Should you consider a short stay in the Black Forest or just an overnight stay on a long journey, I would strongly consider Pfeffermuhle in Gengenbach. We enjoyed our stay at the Pfeffermuhle Hotel. The rooms were clean and pleasant and the breakfasts were served in a bright and airy dining room. There was plenty of choice. We randomly stayed at this hotel after trying to stay at a pension that ended up being closed. We called 5 mins before we arrived. We followed the GPS to an address that ended up being the hotels restaurant.
