Gorgeous little pub, shame about the landlord. I have been in this pub a few times as I live quite near it and have found the landlord to be consistently miserable each time we have been in. It's as if it is just a hobby and not a business for him. We had a drink one Sunday afternoon and 10... More

Stayed here on a 2 night dinner, bed and breakfast basis for a short walking holiday in N Yorks Moors. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Rooms relatively small, but clean, tidy and well appointed. Food - fairly standard pub menu, with a changing starter and main course each night, but cooked to order, using fresh ingredients, good value and filling.... More

We stayed here for one night. The rooms are petite as it's an old building but the rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and the showers worked well. Breakfast was generous and tasty and well cooked. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It was all we could ask for from a small country hotel. Good... More

really lovely hotel, friendly staff, cheap drinks, gorgeous food. the village itself is very quiet so the pub is usually full of friendly locals. the ideal place to go for a quiet getaway.

My partner booked this as a getaway this past weekend. The website led us to believe that the pub was much bigger than it is, it is near whitby and that it is a place where you could curl up in front of a cosy fire. None of these are true. The bar was small, with wooden chairs or bench... More

This was our second stay at the Duke of Wellington and we shall be going again. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, the room was clean and well furnished. We had dinner, bed and breakfast and couldn't fault the food. All in all a wonderful relaxing stay.

I can't say I agree with the current comments about The Duke of Wellington. We are two fifty-somethings plus 2 dogs and had a wonderful Easter break this year, so much so that I've just tried to book again for next Easter only to find the hotel full. We booked fairly late for 2 nights and were having such a... More

We stayed here with our two dogs and were met with an excellent welcome fron Charlie the barman. Shown to our room 'Rosedale' which is the room set aside for dogs and their owners. it was very basic with a smell of damp caused by damp patches by the door and a wet carpet in the bathroom. speaking of the... I stayed at the Inn during the busy bank holiday weekend to a warm welcome from the owner of the Wellington. We had a superb stay, excellent home cooked evening meals served by well attentive staff. The locals were typically friendly and Danby is a ideal base for walking on the heather moorland and coastal walks alike. The rude wedding... More
