We arrived just in time for the afternoon game drive, so quick turn around in our lodge then jumped into the landcruiser & we were off! Our ranger - Wonga, was excellent, we were hoping to see elephant - & he found them in a river bed. about 20+ including 4 babies, so tiny & just like kids rolling in... more

We had heard about this special place and were lucky enough to spend 4 nights there. As a South African now living abroad, it has broken my heart to see so many places jump onto the Safari bandwagon without deilivering the full "bush experience" that I remember from my youth. From the time we arrived and were welcomed like long,... more

We stayed at Bukela in december 2009 for three nights. We had a fantastic time! The game drives were amazing, service en food were great and the accommodation was comfortable, spacious and verrrry stylish. Bukela has a very warm, relaxing and friendly feel to it. I would recommend it to everyone! more

We spent 2 nights at Bukela in October and it was wonderful. The accommodation, company, organisation and food were great. The weather, however was terrible, but it didn't spoil the experience at all. Our Ranger, Stuart, was brilliant. His love for animals, nature and his job was obvious and his knowledge and talent for finding the animals was fantastic. We... more

We arrived at Bukela Lodge just in time for the evening game drive so we didn't have much time to absorb the fantastic lodge that we had just been shown into. As first timers we didn't know what to expect but we jumped on the jeep ready for anything. Our ranger was Harley who was extremely knowledgeable and made the... more

I would recommend the honeymoon lodge to anyone who has the opportunity to stay in it. It is simply spectacular. The staff were friendly and helpful. Basically, nothing was too much to cater for the needs of guests. The food was also of a high standard. The game drive was amazing. The ranger seemed to have an expert knowledge and... more

Fantastic! This was our first safari so we weren't sure what to expect or how many of the Big Five we would get to see but we weren't disappointed.... Everyone was wonderful and on our first safari we saw Rhino, Giraffes, Zeebras, so many antelope I can't list them all and Elephants - a taste of things to come! They... more

In the beginning of the month I celebrated by Birthday at Bukela Game Lodge. I felt like a queen, on arrival Kerry & Steve came and greeted me wishing me a Happy Birthday! The rooms are spectacular and so spacious! The Spa bath and outside shower made my day!! Going on the Game Drive with Harley was so much fun,... more

A 7km drive through the Amkala Game Reserve brings you to the Bukela Lodge. It is only in the last minute that you see the lodge itself, so beautifully set into the surroundings and featuring only 4 thatched roof chalets, that it does not spoil the nature surrounding it. We were welcomed by the fabulous Raymond who offered us welcome... more

Apart from our tour guide providing us with not so great directions (not Bukela's fault) it was worth getting lost. A great place to do safari. Only 4 other chalets make up this Game Lodge, so there was a really personal touch and we were really well looked after. In saying that there a other Private Game Lodges on the... more
