My husband and I stayed in The Douglas Hotel on our way to St. Andrews for one night to have a rest from all this driving from Berkshire. It was just a random choice based on Tripadvisor to stay somewhere half way to St. Andrews. Booking over the phone was very efficient and the landlord assured us that parking was safe just across the road and that he was going to give us a parking disc for that purpose.

It was very easy to find the hotel and parking was not a problem at all. The hotel is situated in a very quite town, and the landlord pointed out that there was no crime in the area whatsoever.

The room was on a small side but very warm and had a very large bed and also an extra bed. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in and we believe this fact is worth mentioning for we stayed in a 3 star hotel later on our holiday in the Lake Ditsrict where the double bed was so tiny and uncomfortable that completely prevented us from a normal rest during the... more
