We stayed at Zeru House overnight and wished we could have stayed longer. Hosts Paul and Carol made us very welcome from the moment we arrived and settled us in to one of their choice of spacious, comfortable, immaculate and very well-appointed rooms. There is a quiet garden out back for reading, relaxing and dipping into the very refreshing pool. Out front there is a cool veranda for al-fresco dining and outstanding views.
Paul and Carol showed us round the town and joined us in a delicious traditional South African meal which they cooked for us in the evening, making us feel more like friends than passing customers. Breakfast was something special - fresh, local ingredients (just try the sausage!).
Uniondale itself is a quiet, unassuming sort of place but there is a lot of history there and plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. It is only a short drive from the coast and the Garden Route. A new golf course is about to open ( Paul is a keen golfer, whereas...
