I have been to Kenya twice before and Flamingo Beach Hotel was recommended to me by a friend who visited 3 years ago (who assures me it was very good then). I have never reviewed or commented on any hotel before but really feel I have some valid points that fellow holiday makers might like to know about this hotel.... more

It is often necessary in rural Kenya to provide electricity on site through the use of generators. Generators are sometimes switched off during the late evening to allow them to cool sufficiently so that they may provide electricity and pump water throughout the busiest part of the daytime. It appears in this instance that unfortunately we did not meet your...

Some of the management are hard work but all of the... more

Please note this is my first ever holiday review/complaint & I am 55. The 5 shields suggests that there are good standards of accommodation, food, service & facilities. Here is a list of complaints which I feel do not match up to the description of the hotel, food, service and facilities. 1 Food was appalling. My husband and I are... more

Kenya is a country which offers a truly beautiful natural landscape and access to some of the rarest and most magnificent animals in the world. It is also a country which has undergone some major changes and continues to be a developing nation. It is often necessary in rural Kenya to provide electricity on site through the use of generators....

This hotel was just fine - friendly, clean, everything to hand, brilliant staff and ideal location. The food was good - rooms clean, basic but perhaps the bathroom could have done with a bit of a facelift if I got picky - but we must remember we are in Africa and not a top med holiday. This was the best... more

We did not stay in our room for long enough to have any complaints. The pool is excellent and clean as are the... more

For those considering booking safaris with ASC, I would point out the review of their Buffalo Mara camp that I previously posted on Tripadvisor. African Safari Club promises when you visit Mara Buffalo camp as part of their safari tours that you'll be seeing animals in the "world famous Mara reserve". Well, don't be fooled! The world famous Mara National... more

Please be assured that Mara Buffalo Camp is located in the heart of the Masai Mara. Apart from the Masai Mara National Reserve which is operated by the KWS (Kenyan Wildlife Service), the rest of the Masai Mara is owned by Masaai familes and has been sub-divided into group ranches which each charge a park fee. Mara Buffalo Camp is...
