We stayed for 2 weeks half-board at the end of August early September and loved every minute of it. The hotel though not luxurious was very attractive and very clean and the bedrooms were fine with air-conditioning available for a reasonable daily charge. Capo Vaticano is absolutely beautiful, it is not a touristy place, no real bars and few restaurants. We booked a last min hol with Thomson and found it good value for money. This part of Calabria is not really on the main, foreign tourist trail and is none the worse for that. You will need to try out your Italian, although the friendly staff at the Sciaron (you say -'Sharon') are keen to practice their English.
