My kids and I enjoyed our two nights at Hotel Demidoff. Yes, it is a bit out of the way but it provides the peace you need after a day sight-seeing in Florence. Our room was updated and we had a nice terrace overlooking a valley. The kids loved the indoor pool too! You must have a rental car to... more

We stayed here as part of a tour and this was my least favorite hotel. It wasn't scary or anything like that, but the rooms were old and needed to be upgraded. ie- our toilet seat was cracked and there was no curtain on the shower making the bathroom a wading pool after 1 shower. The nicest parts of the... more

Stayed one night with Trafalgar, and one night is enough. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and there is nothing to do around it., The room was clean, but very old with everything broken pretty much. Breakfast was disgusting, with mostly packaged food and some cheapy cooked egg. more

Stayed at the Demidoff for only 1 night as part of a Cosmos tour. it was the best hotel we stayed in!! Lovely views, tranquil surroundings. Food was very good and maybe because we were part of a large group the atmosphere in the dining room was very good. Would stay there again for a few days. more

My husband and I stayed one night here in June, 2006. We wish we could have stayed longer. The drive from Florence is spectacular, up a narrow, winding road past farmlands and country houses. This hotel is in the middle of an old estate, and is quiet and peaceful - birds singing, crickets, etc. Very lovely. The room was clean... more

My wife and I have just returned from a week (May 8-15, 2006) at The Hotel Demidoff, we found the hotel to be of good standard. We could not find fault with the food or service, perhaps the only criticism being the breakfasts were repetitive, and need to have more variation. The reception were exceptional helpful in arranging tickets to... more

Contrary to other recent reviewers, we found the staff to be as helpful as they could be. They are just employees but we felt that they tried to help and really did their best. This is not a family-run cosy Italian home, but a modern style hotel. The problem is that it is rather worn out. The owners are clearly... more

If I had read the other reviews on this hotel BEFORE it was booked, I probably wouldn't have gone. But on the basis that things aren't usually as bad as they are made out, I decided to try to adopt a positive attitude from the outset and look to find the good points rather than looking for flaws. Location -... more

The hotel itself is in a good location just 20 minutes north of Florence. Every room also had beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside. The staff (especially the one woman who we kept having run ins with at the front desk) was so extremely rude. The power was out when we arrived. (which giving the benefit of the doubt could... more

My advice would be "don't stay there". I have stayed at better two star hotels. It is 20 minutes outside of Florence, although they provide an infrequent minibus transfer service, this gets full and may only be able to take you one way - and doesn't run for four hours at lunchtime. Reception were not very friendly, they didn't tell... more
