We stayed for two nights at Ricavo in the Chianti region arriving there after a few days in Rome. The location is excellent, just a minute or two from the main road (Route 222) and within 15-20 minutes of many wineries, a few towns, and great restaurants. It is also about 30 minutes North of Siena, which is a great... more

We have stayed here many times and always enjoy coming back whenever we can to enjoy the peace and quiet, As soon as we turn off the country road from Castellina in Chianti and start to drive down the private white road for about 1km we feel relaxed. The noisiest noise is all the birdsong - including nightingales at night.... more

Tenuta di Ricavo is all about good people. Nice, warm, sympathic and efficient people that happened to be in the hotel business. Me and my wife had a great time there and the 6 nights we spent there were really awesome. The location is about 5 minutes by car from Castellina in Chianti, one of my favourities cities in Tuscany.... more

If you want to get away from crowds, noise, other tourists and experience the beauty and charm of Chianti, one of the most scenic parts of Tuscany, Tenuta di Ricavo is a special find. Not for guest seeking night life or excitement, but idyllic, comfortable and cosy for those who cherish a small inn with spacious rooms with terraces and... more

I selected this hotel based on reviews on TA and in Frommers. We knew it was rural, but were a little surprised by just how rural. Luckily we loved the peaceful setting, beautiful sunsets, and charming accomodations. The owner is a charming woman who is very helpful in recommending restaurants and scenic drives. Our room was as promised. Nothing fancy,... more

Although set amidst a beautiful landscape, my husband and I found this hotel to be too rustic for comfort. Our room was on the first floor and felt somewhat unsafe. The patio overlooks a beautiful, lush garden area but the winds at night blew the patio door and furniture around so much that I couldn't sleep. Also, the maid must... more

We stayed for 3 nights in May for our honeymoon, and it could not have been more perfect. The property itself is beautiful, set amidst Tuscany's rolling hills, and about a few km from its nearest town of Castellina in Chianti. Very calm, peaceful place by day and by night...all you hear is nature and birds singing. The restaurant (La... more

We bid on a weeks stay at this hotel during our school auction. We basically were talked into bidding at the last minute and had no opportunity to do any review checks on the property. Luckily for us, Tenuta di Ricavo was like being in a dream. It was so perfectly Tuscan and so romantic. The property is immaculately maintained.... more

We had the wonderful pleasure of staying here for our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff was just fabulous. Upon our arrival we were pleased to learn that we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite. The balcony looked out over a majestic valley with deer that could be seen on the surrounding hills. The bedroom had a beautiful bouquet of... more

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was the best part of our trip to Italy!! Tuscany area is beautiful and we were between Siena and Florence, making it an ideal location. The staff were very helpful in arranging winery tours, giving directions to various places, recommendations to restaurants. The accomodations were comfortable and inviting and the surroundings were... more
