Having visited many pousadas over the last few years, we were looking forward to our stay at this retreat. Thought it a bit strange when we arrived, and there was nobody about, except the odd member of staff, beautiful swimming pool desserted.
We opted for lunch outside, as the weather was fabulous. unfortunately we had to share our lunch with hundreds of wild house martins! (little birds).
They flew over our table leaving little deposits behind, and needless to say, the whole area was awash with bird poo.
But it got worse -pool loungers were covered in poo, poo in the pool, and the whole outside of this hotel was covered in poo. We had to step over dead birds to get to our room, obviously they had beel left there for some time as decomposing, and someone had tried to cover them up with cardboard, which was a waste of time.
maybe it was the wrong time of the year, but we hastily left after breakfast the next day, cutting our stay there very short. a beavtiful place... more
