We had a wonderful stay in this historic quinta (wine estate) 15 minutes by car from Braga in the Minho region of Portugal. The origins of the quinta go back to the 17th century. Get detailed directions, the quinta is tucked away in the quiet countryside on the outskirts of Amares.
Lovingly restored buildings, large swimming pool with separate children pool, beautiful and ample grounds. Rooms are well furnished, modern bathrooms, queen size beds .... everything up to the standard we expected.
The owners, represented by Dona Amalia and her daughter Susanna (the latter fluent in English) are really friendly and helpful in recommending sights and restaurants. Breakfast is superb - the pride of Dona Amalia!
An excellent place to spend a week in Northern Portugal. Everything is close by. We preferred to stay here rather than in busy Porto, which is a 30 minute drive away.
Price/quality is superb - we will return. more
