We went for a 2 night stay with friends and absoloutly loved the place. The food in the restaurant was as good as any I have had, Subtle dishes mixed with powerful flavoured dishes the choice is your. There is as well a bistro with an excellent choice. Staff were really attentive and the whole villiage is charming(and very busy).... more

The Boars Head had been reccomended by friends who stayed there a couple of years ago. As we had booked late in the week for a one night stay on a Bank Holiday weekend we certainly didn't expect the best room or the best price but we did expect the Hotel to have modern day facilities which at least compared... more

This was our second stay and we treated ourselves to db&b and a superior room which was in a beautiful house across the road. Room was lovely with a HUGE bathroom. Food and wine (we ate in the restaurant both nights) was superb and the service was spot-on. The pork braised in milk and lavender was wonderful! The kedgeree at... more

The Boar's Head is a gem. Situated in a picturesque Estate Village next to Ripley Castle (entrance is free for hotel guests) and close to Harrogate (there's a bus every twenty minutes) and the beauties of the Yorkshire Dales it's the perfect place for a romantic break or a relaxing weekend. We went to Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey and Ripon... more

The welcome was very pleasant. All three rooms were nicely furnished with little touches like coffe/tea , fresh fruit and bottled water. Bathrooms are good in size with fluffy towels. The whole place looks and feels a little like a private house. So far so good. The bathrooms are in desperate need of some more light- it's all very gloomy,... more

This is a great location and on the whole nice hotel, but for the cost it really could do with updating. The decor is past it sell by date and the bathrooms are out of synch with what is generally available. more

My husband and I booked this hotel for aspecial weekend away, the room was adequate but not as comfortable as we expected, the evening meal in the restaraunt was frankly terrible and in our opinion very expensive for poor quality food , the service was very good from the staff , In our opinion the only saving grace was the... more

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights over Easter. The hotel and Ripley Castle are owned by the Ingilby family as seems to be much of the village of Ripley and a lovely place it is. We stayed across the road from the main hotel building in a very comfortable superior room and we were looked after as if... more

We stayed at the Boar's Head for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding at Ripley Castle. The location is lovely, right in the centre of a picture-postcard village, and just around 100m from Ripley castle itself. As we were delayed on our journey, we phoned ahead to enquire about the time of last food orders, and were told... more
