On a hill near the medieval town of Celle sul Rigo, between Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana, stands the Il Poggio Holiday Farm. The Farmhouse, the central building of the farm, offers a peerless view that spreads over Valle del Rigo, the Radicofani stronghold, Monte Amiata, Monte Cetona, up to Valle dell’Elvella which is bordered in perspective from the town of San Casciano dei Bagni. The Il Poggio buds from the join of two family farms grown up in the spirit of tradition. In 1987 it starts to be in business by doing the first refurbishments of the rural buildings.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Really needs some maintenance and improvements. The villages are small and at times restraunts did not open or closed early making eating out difficult. The room is lackin essentials like not one wine glass in the unit. Had to ask for a kettle to make coffee.

Had a lovely time in this small town perched in a Tuscan hillside. A mix of agriturismo and hotel feel with a friendly helpful staff. Reasonable-though not necessarily close to major cities. EXCELLENT FOOD AND WINE!

Stayed here on our 2nd leg of our trip. Everyone was very nice but it was very secluded. It takes a good 30 minutes to get to the main town and the highway. They make you pay an extra fee per person for breakfast and cleaning which is the same thing everyday. Cold cuts, cheese and breads. The only thing I looked forward to was my cappuccinos. Our accommodations were not the best. I get the rustic farm vibe but no air conditioning. We were giving two fans but as many reviews had mentioned be prepared for the bugs. There was a big slit on one of the screens but I covered it with bandages. I would spray all the windows with bug spray every night. There is a small village 10 minutes away where you can get dinner. Keep in mind restaurants don’t open for dinner till 7 or 8pm. The ladies at the desk were super helpful in organizing for my daughter and I to get our hair done in the near by village. They also organized a cooking class with Laura in the kitchen and horseback riding. I must say they were both wonderful experiences! The beds were the worst! My whole family did not get a good nights rest while we were there. As lovely as the views and the staff were I would’ve opted for other accommodations.

Horrible waste of your money, and you should go anywhere else but here! I had booked this through RCI, expecting the place to be decent, but it is far from it. If you book through RCI, you get the worst rooms that don't have a kitchen, just a tiny fridge. The bathtub they claim is excellent doesn't hold the water in, and the hot water runs out anyways. The shower is super little, and it leaks water on the ground. Plus, they don't even give you conditioner or lotion, just a small thing of shampoo and shower gel which they don't refill daily. Another thing is the TV doesn't work, and the air conditioning is the worst thing ever, so you're just roasting in your room during the summer. The bed is the hardest thing I have ever slept on, and eventually, they gave us a mattress topper, but it's still horrible and stained. The worst part is that they make you pay for an extra half-board for breakfast and cleaning. It's 280 euros for each person, so for a couple, it costs over $600 for them to give you more towels and eat a medical breakfast for a week. The breakfast is super dull since it's the same every day, and they don't refill things when they run out. It's all self-serve, including some bread that doesn't toast in the toaster, some sliced meat (the only good part), croissants, some pies that other people have touched, cereal without milk, and some fruit that doesn't look great. I swear it's the same stuff that they reuse everyday even if it's not good. The only redeeming feature is the coffee lady making you a cappuccino daily. The most challenging aspect is that no one speaks English, so you're stuck trying to explain what you need to someone who only knows a few words. I don't fault them for this as most of the staff is super friendly, but the website says they're multilingual. The only person who can help you is one lady who speaks English and is quite rude. We tried walking to the tennis courts, but they're very far away and not maintained. We took them up on the complimentary welcome drink, and the wine guy was terrific, but other than that, we were shunned by everyone. Don't even try to walk to the "town" because it's mostly older people that hate tourists, and nothing is open. We were stuck a few times without dinner because the restaurant was hosting a big group, so that they couldn't accommodate us, and there wasn't a single restaurant in town. There's nowhere to do laundry, and the closest town is 30 minutes away. While the views are lovely, there are too many bugs for it to be enjoyable, and it's so secluded. Overall we made the most of our experience by traveling to other cities almost every day and eating as much breakfast food as possible. It wasn't the worst experience, but I would warn against coming here as the accommodation could be better. If you want the seclusion you can defintiely find it at other places.

Exceptional view and location. Extremely peaceful. Very helpful and friendly staff all around. Bed, shower and facilities could be better. Breakfast in our opinion overpriced and requires more variety. Great cappuccino. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

It is a little secluded & you obviously need a car but its central location allows you to enjoy the Tuscan country and an easy ride to the train station, Florence & Siena! Simona was a great help with excursions and a pleasure to talk with!

I have to be candid in my review. Not worth the hassle of going all the way. The bedding was terrible. Was just the size of double bed and very low quality. My wife and I could barely fit. Torn and dirty comforter. Sofa was stained all over and dirty. The wool covers were dusty. Seemed as if they were never cleaned. We certainly appreciate the rustic villages and setting, but there are definitely better places.

This place is a little isolated and requires a car. The staff here are amazing, I would highly recommend that if you go in the off season you ask about places to eat in the vicinity. There is not a lot of sight seeing in the town however it is very close to Siena, Florence and Cortona (under the tuscan sun) all in all a great stay.

Wonderful location with a fantastic view of the Tuscany hills. Delicious food and wine, all home made! Perfect location for meetings, gatherings and family relaxing. A tour among their lands is recommended. Worth to go and to return again. Staff is always available and friendly! Many thanks
