The view from the Villa Rosa is quite spectacular! The highlight of our stay was eating breakfast and dinner out on that overhang featured in the pictures. The breakfast was fantastic. One day we had a "western" breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, etc., starting off with a wonderful plate of fresh local fruit. The next day we had the fruit... More

I stayed here with a group of friends for one night during our trip around Sri Lanka. This place is fantastic! It was like an oasis out of busy Kandy. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help. We had a lovely dinner and breakfast and were very well looked after. Our room was clean and spacious. I... More

We had a 3 day stay at Villa Rosa and what a brilliant experience. Volker and his team set out to make us feel at home and they achieved this in fine style with nothing being too much trouble from the minute we arrived. The views are even better than the pictures on the website and relax you as soon... More

We were picked up at the airport by the hotel staff and had a comfortable drive to Villa Rosa. The property has a great view! The hotel staff are extremely courteous. They ensured that we got more than what we needed. The food was excellent and we absolutely enjoyed dining there. The rooms are comfortable although not plush. The bathrooms definitely needed work! We... More

We stayed two nights in what turned out to the honeymoon suite. It was very comfortable with a huge terrace with day bed and bath (!). The bathroom wasn’t very big but was fine for our needs. The room was located at the very top of the property and was very quiet and private. The food and service were both... More

My boyfriend and I spent three nights at Villa Rosa - and only wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel is a bumpy, steep drive up from Kandy - but you are rewarded with what can only be described as the best view in Sri Lanka. The host and all the staff were wonderful - faultless. We spent two... More

The Villa has superb views over the river and hills, whilst still being only a short ride from Kandy. Breakfast on the terrace is therefore a real treat and very relaxing, whatever the weather is doing. The food is good here. The Curries for evening meal were the best we tasted during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. We are... More

We stayed at Villa Rosa for two nights shortly after Christmas. Two families with late teenage / early 20 somethings. The place is fabulous. Great location, delightful architecture and overlooking the city and the river. The food was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. For sure, Villa Rosa is not a bland 5-star 'western' hotel if that's... More

On honeymoon in Sri Lanka we arrived in Kandy tired after our long journey from the hill country. We were warmly welcomed by Volker the owner and his lovely staff. The room was beautiful, clean and large with a lovely four poster bed. It was furnished with lovely antique furniture, a good choice of artefacts and décor. The view is... More
