Superb hotel and restaurant but nothing close to a five star hotel according to international standards. Rooms are nice and nicely designed though strangely organized with integrated bathrooms (maybe to pretend the room is bigger than it is?) Restaurant is superb with excellent sevice

What a great hotel in the middle of nowhere. Stopped here for a night on the way to Switzerland for skiing and the hotel and restaurant are faultless. Comfortable room with countryside views, well heated with a large comfortable bed with toppers (needed on most French mattresses), walk in shower, large TV with English language options. Girl at reception was... More

Me and my daughter found this by chance on our way back from Provence to Stockholm. The castle is vey nice and the room was suitably stylish and had great beads. We choose to have dinner at the hotel restaurant and that turned out to be something really extraordinairy. A very well composed menu along with recommendation of wines, locally... More

There is no doubt that this is a magnificent building, and a stay here is an experience. However not all is perfect. The room facilities were definitely not 5 star, and we found an infestation of beetles!! Breakfast was also a disappointment and definitely not commensurate with the €160 a night off season tariff. The good news is that we... More

My wife and I stayed in Chateau La Carniere and it was not only nicely quiet and peaceful but we got a friendly welcome and the room we had was very well appointed (thoughtful mix of modern and classic). Supper was extremely good and usual high french cuisine standards (Monsieur La Chef did produced dishes with some very interesting and... More

We travelled as a group of six en-route to a wedding in France for 1 night as it was my husbands birthday. When we arrived (around 2pm), 1 of the rooms wasn't ready, but this was soon rectified and we were given another room on the fourth floor with double aspect overlooking the pool area and a side view of... I agree of some of the latest posts: * A bit low for a 5-stars * Very little "infrastructure". If you arrive at around 2pm, you will have very little to do until dinner time. Maybe a visit to Vichy? (which, in any case, is at 30 minutes by car). * The restaurant experience will surely be pleasant, but nothing... More

Not sure how this hotel is rated 5*. The setting is lovely- quiet and with a great view and the restaurant for dinner was good. The service is terrible. On arrival we were greeted by a very flustered young girl who wasn't really sure what to do with us. The room (Junior Suite of fourth floor) had a great view... More

A very impressive looking chateau with beautiful interior decor apart from a rather out of place, busy, modern carpet in our bedroom and the corridors that looked more 'city chain' hotel than 'chateau chic'. That is personal opinion though. Friendly staff who speak little English but why should they - I need to improve my French! Our top floor room... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night on Sunday 3rd June on our way from Nice to Cherbourg. The chateau is beautiful and our corner room on the third floor had wonderful views over the grounds and local countryside. Unfortunately, the weather was dull and the hotel felt a little cold and empty. The latter was partly explained... More
