I was lucky enough to be staying in Italy for 2 weeks with a friend. I reserved a room for 3 nights at the Palazzo Catalani, through my timeshare company, Diamond Resorts. We arrived by train at the closest station, in Orte. It was a Sunday so the buses were not running. We called the Resort about an hour away... More

One of the most memorable weeks of our travels was spent on a hilltop in this former Nobleman's palazzo, now converted into a spectacular hotel. Our room featured a restored 16th century painted ceiling (20-feet high), very comfortable furnishings and a view over the rooftops of this medieval hilltown. The sounds of birds and church bells replaced our alarm, keeping... More

Attentive staff from reception to housekeeping to restaurant were FANTASTIC! Special mention must be made for Matteo, Jean Paulo, and Aurora - always a smile and effort for any request... Whiskey or Cappuccino @ 1am? NO PROBLEM, dinner reservations @ last minute, SURE! Where to find good Porchetta, socks, or kids clothes? They have you covered.

We had read about about this place and we looked forward to it. Some points: the staff were terrific: John Paul, Angelo and one lady who were professional, helpful with advice and ran the extra mile in every respect. Angelo even arranged a free bottle of his neighbours wine for me which was much appreciated. Soriano was an interesting place.... More

Have just come back from a week in this resort (March 2012). It is fabulous - a great place to unwind and see some of authentic Italy - though you need to be rreasonably fit to be able to negotiate the hills and steep steps that are all over the town. In particular we can recommend the hotel 'Ristorante'. Roberto... More

Palazzo Catalani is a 16th century monastry which has been converted into 18 apartments. The village is a 90 minute drive north of Rome and this should be kept in mind if visitors are considering using Catalani as a base to travel. A car is definitely a must, as the little village is quaint and authentic but will soon lose... More

This was once a grand villa rather than a palace, which fell into ruin until it was rescued and refurbished around 10 years ago by Diamond Resorts. They kept the heritage feel of the place rather well, with the great reception rooms, painted walls and original stairways made of the volcanic tufa stone of the region. Unfortunately the builders took... More

We will be staying at the Palazzo Catalani from the 12 Feb 2012 to the 19 Feb 2012. I was reading all the review and I am already impress with the Palazzo Catalani. The only request is, if it is possible to have a room on the 1 or 2nd floor and not the small room please.
