We were at Xamach Dos for a few days around the end of January and can’t say enough positive things about the experience. We’d actually booked a week at Los Lirios in Tulum, which was adequate, but maybe more typical of the accommodations available in the area. Fortunately, we ventured south on the dirt road through Sian Ka’an (be aware,... More

Do not be put off by the road as it is well worth the effort to arrive at Xamach Dos. Dan and daughter are friendly and look after you well. Most of the accommodation has been built by Dan and where i stayed in Casa Secreta, it was just perfect. Awesome spot. Miles of beach and learnt to play coconut... More

Xamach Dos Getting there ~ after you pass through the arch into the Sian Kaan reserve, you leave the Boca Paila Road and begin a 32 km journey on the “coconut road” – it will challenge your patience, surprise you, but in the end deliver you to a most worthy destination. Remember – take it slow, take it easy –... More

After about an hour and a half on a BUMPY road from the south beach of Tulum with its hotels, restaurants and yoga gurus, we arrived dusty and thirsty at the Xamach Dos. We were greeted by american owner Dan (later known as Driftwood Dan) and his daughter Michelle. A welcome-shot of tequila later we were laughing with them and... More

This is a beautiful, secluded place: great accommodation, mostly hand built by Dan, the American owner. It's right on the beach, and you can choose from different sorts of accommodation, from the tiny, hidden "Casa Secreta" to the hut on stilts "Tree House" as you might expect) with a fantastic view - the most popular choice apparently. There is nothing... More

To get to this accommodation it's a 1.5 - 2 hour drive from Tulum down a dirt track. It takes so long because the road is terrible. It's difficult to find a taxi driver willing to ruin his car to take you there so hire a car. We asked the owner before booking about getting there and all we were... More

When I talk to people before they book, I do mention the road conditions, as they change. When these people booked a couple of nights, in December, the road had been newly graded, and was in good shape in comparison to other years past. A prolonged rainy stretch, coupled with a huge increase in the number of tourist Jeep tours... More

Xamach Dos is a great place to stop for lunch while exploring the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. I have dined here several times on my way to Punta Allen. My last trip I arrived at the restaurant there was a pot of delicious lentil and veggie soup simmering in the kitchen. The meal was great and service was perfect. The... More

You can read my review from when I was here in April with My wife. This time I came with a friend to do some fishing. We had individual huts, but we had rain and both huts needed repair from leaks..not a big deal. The food was really great and the staff quite helpful. Dan the owner was there part... More

My husband and myself stayed at Xamach Dos last April. I yearn to be back here everyday! You will not find a more welcoming and attentive staff anywhere in Quintana Roo! Dan, Michelle and staff made every minute of our stay memorable! Food was insanely delish, the beach immacualate, the cababna's and of course the famous TREEHOUSE is insane! Awesome... More
