We stayed 3 nights at CESiaK on our recent holiday to the Yucatan Peninsula. It was a great decision. Our impressions of the Yucatan were that it pays much more attention to sustainability than we expected, and in many cases, than you see in California. As a professional in sustainability who has traveled widely, I am comfortable saying this place... more

We didn't stay at Cesiak, couldn't get a room there and bunked in Tulum instead but our tour with Rene was the highlight of our trip to Mexico. We learned so much, had a great time, delicious lunch, and got to see a part of Mexico that visitors who spend all their time in Cancun miss. more

I can't say enough great things about our week at Cesiak - an amazing place with beautiful, absolutely pristine beaches and a staff that made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. I definitely recommend this place, without hesitation. First, let's talk food. We ate nearly every meal at the hotel's restaurant and according to this foodie blog,... more

We met Antonio, our guide in Tulum for our Canal Tour of Sian Kaan. After a short drive down the beach road, we were in the north entrance of the biosphere. From the moment we entered the park we begin our ecological education of the area. Antonio was a virtual fountain of knowledge about the area and it's importance to... more

Cesiak was truly an amazing experience. As you see from all of the posted photos, it is absolutely stunning, full of birds and palm trees and other wildlife, and it is relatively remote. I haven't felt this connected to nature in years, falling asleep to the lull of the ocean and waking up to chirping birds. I wanted to go... more

We are a bit conflicted about Cesiak. It is a beautiful place, love the concept, the biosphere itself is amazing and the staff are great. The conflict came mostly in seeing that they’d built all the tent platforms and other permanent structures right atop the sensitive dunes, and in doing so they’ve interrupted natural dune-building processes ever since. Therefore the... more

If you don't mind a few mosquitoes and staying in a safari-tent type of cabin, and you want to be extremely close to the ocean and beautiful nature preserve: this place might just suit you. Not for those who crave a/c, tv, or electric hair dryers. A model of eco-sustainability with its own wind generator, solar plant, and a super-friendly... more

Cesiak is like fancy camping. Sturdy canvas walls. Wooden floors. Comfortable bed and linens. Roaring sea outside. Steady breeze. I arranged 3 nights out of 8 while driving from Cancun to Chetamul. It was the highlight of the trip. I was travelling alone. The staff at Cesiak were accommodating and pleasant and made me feel welcome. The location defies description... more

The Centro Ecologico Sian Ka'an (CESiaK) is one of the finest, most ideally situated, and least pretentious centers for ecotourism you will find in the Western hemisphere. Relaxing and sightseeing in a reserve that also pursues sources of renewable energy and fine local staffing makes every one of its numerous pleasures guiltless. From fresh water canal floating tours (do this!)... more

Cesiak is one of the best kept secrets I have ever stumbled across. I was almost hesitant to write a review for fear that it would become too discovered. But, I’ve now decided it is more important for this slice of heaven to prosper as after only a week since my departure from Mexico, I am already having Cesiak withdrawal.... more
