I booked a room so I could eat and drink at the hotel's restaurant. The location is pure rural Borgogne only a few kilometers off the autoroute and there are lots of local growers selling their best Burgandy wines at very reasonable prices. When I made my online booking I confirmed that two of us would be eating supper in... More

France has many hotels like this: a bit small, rather quirky but very friendly and accommodating. However the reason for staying here is the quality of the food and wine which are both outstanding. We had two superb meals here and had nothing but praise for the whole experience.

This is a pretty, cosy hotel right in the centre of Mercurey. Its a beautiful village and within a short walk of lots of top quality local vineyards. Rooms were traditional and well appointed and the hotel food was top notch. It is French fine dining though - don't expect to be able to grab a quick bite to eat,... More

We chose to eat at this restaurant because of its michelin star and some reviews on tripadvisor. We sat down at our table on a Saturday night at 20.00hrs and eventually left at midnight. We chose the 3 course menu, the first course of which took 50 minutes to arrive, and the main course 60 minutes after we had finished... More

A two-night break, flew to Lyon and hired a car to visit the Cote Chalonnaise and revisit the Val d'Or (ten years on from last visit). Comfortable room, though with some noise from the main road through the village. Superb food both nights - the first night, the menu "Bourgogne et Tradition", with six courses. Second night, more simply with... More

We stayed 3 nights on half board although on one night the hotel and restaurant were closed so the owners arranged for us to eat at another local restaurant. The meals at the hotel were some of the best we had ever tasted and the wine list was extensive and not overpriced. We would love to go back BUT the... More

Rooms are averpriced at 90 euro a (pretty dirty) double, with patchy furniture, cheap toilets and very uncomfortable beds. Certainly not worth the price and not worth the three stars they claim. And the breakfast at 11 euro is a robbery! The restaurant is not as bad, but again overpriced in relation to paying the same price in another area... More

Myself, my wife and several friends had Sunday lunch recently in the main restaurant. I have to say it was one of the best meals I've ever had. I've eaten at a few so called good restaurants in my time and this meal was up there with the best. The wine list is good and includes all the good and... More

We stayed at the Val d'Or for three nights - and three fabulous dinners. The rooms were comfortable, with effective air-conditioning if desired and Mercurey is well placed for excursions. We enjoyed a degustation with the charming lady at the winery next door and bought some local wine that never left the village as we drank it all in situ!... More

Apparently the ownership of this establishment has changed in the last little while. We did not stay at their hotel but only ate dinner at the restaurant. The restaurant is warm and inviting. Nice table settings and premium stemware and cultery. The dinner was excellent. We had a wonderful 6 course meal. Two entrees, the main dish, a palate cleanser,... More
