Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our hostess, Janice, is a very friendly lady who can give you lots of advice on things to do in the area. The rooms have a magnificent view on the lake; the breakfast, prepared by Janice, is delicious

Cathedral Peaks has a view to kill for! Not to mention it is a quiet, well run, very clean and is operated by a friendly couple who work hard to be sure everything is "right" for their guests. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful during our stay pointing us in the direction of "must sees". Anyone cruising the Doubtful Sound will find this location unbeatable just minutes from those who provide such service. The town of Manapouri is a bit sleepy but Te Anu is just up the road providing a great selection of restaurants and activities.

Although we only stayed for one night because we had to move on, we really liked Janice's place. She is super friendly and makes an amazing breakfast. The blueberry muffins were a real treat. Very clean room and extremely comfortable bed.

Janice was a great host and the room was immaculately clean. Janice prepared a wonderful breakfast for us including muffins to take with us for very early mornings. On New Year's Day, we saw a double rainbow right from the dining room. What a beautiful and memorable experience. Also a few food options nearby which is a great for a small town.

We stayed one night in December, part of our 6 1/2 week holiday to New Zealand, it is a lovely house with a fantastic view, bedrooms very nice and an excellent cooked breakfast. Janice was lovely and very helpful, we wished we could have stayed longer. If you are looking for accommodation in this area then look no further than Cathedral Peaks, you will not be disappointed.

Myself and my partner were here to go on the overnight Doubtful Sound cruise. We were made very welcome after a long motorbike ride! Great room, fantastic view. Very very friendly and helpful hosts! Even allowed us to store our motorbikes in their own garage while we were on the cruise which helped us out so much as were very grateful for this.

We booked into Cathedral Peaks to be on the doorstep for our Doubtful Sound cruise. However, it really delivered, and we were very pleased to be returning there after our wonderful cruise. It is close to a bar that serves excellent pub meals and has delightful views over Lake Manapouri. The breakfast was excellent - cooked but with homemade muffins and preserves. A perfect location for a visit to this area or as a base for a cruise.

We stayed at Manapouri as a starting point for our drive up to the Mildford sound - and it is really a handy location for the wonderful 2.5 hours drive. The house is well located right at the waterfront and easy to find. We stayed in one of the downstairs rooms next to the living room area of the guests. The room itself was spaceous, bathroom is ensuite and was clean and well laid out. The little bits to nibble were a nice extra. Breakfast was good and well prepared. The hosts were very nice and helpful. The rates seemed to be rather highish - which seems to be the case in the whole area. Paying cash is preferred if not booked via an agency. All in all a good location to start for numerous trips in the surrounding area.

On arrival, Janice was quite confused, as she had forgotten to write down our booking. No problem, within minutes she had everything organised and we got a very big and nice room. Next morning at breakfast we found a very nice table with an overload of food and then Janice asked us if we wanted a cooked one. jAnice is a very good hostess and very caring. The view from the room over the lake Manapori is overwhelming.

Yes I was a little on confused on your arrival but not because I had not booked you in on the right day, but only because in my mind I was a day out, your booking was at all times written in and secure. I am pleased you enjoyed you stay. Janie
