Very friendly staff, lovely owners, very nice rooms, excellent breakfast, free Internet. What is there not to like? Well, it is a bit pricey, perhaps, at about 60 euros for single occupancy. Then again, this is not exceptional in Melville. More

We had 2 nights with Conway, his lovely family & staff. Everything was perfect - huge room with room for a pony & lovely bathroom. Nothing was too much trouble for Conway - he went out of his way to help us organise tours for both days.(Who would have thought that we would be touring Soweto for 5 hours with... More

Best guesthouse in Johannesburg so far. Everyone at Lucky Bean helped happily, no gaps or problems. Would be my first choice for business again, or for holiday. Location much better than Parktown or Melrose, restaurant and shopping nearby, good bookstores, and safe walking. More

We recently spent one night at Lucky Bean, and we can say that it is one of the best value for money options in Joburg. Furthermore it is located in in the very nice area of Melville which offers nice coffe shops, bars and restaurants. Very clean, cosy, with private park and good breakfast. The owner, Conway, is the PERFECT... More

I love staying at the Lucky Bean Guest House. This was my second time at the house. I had to go back after the first visit. I now just call it: "The Bean". The owners and the staff create a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere. They encourage shared breakfasts (hot and continental) with other guests, and they join in too. There... More

The Lucky Bean has a beautiful setting, comfortable and clean rooms, tasty full breakfasts. But the best part of it is Conway himself, who arranged rides, tours, guides before I ever arrived, spent an hour working on my internet connection one morning, and was just an all-around wonderful person. Melville as an area is a pleasant low-key place to walk... More

Let's begin with the warm greetings by Pretty, the guest house manager, at the front door. Then across the lovely small garden area, past the tiny pool and shaded veranda before we entered our beautifully appointed room. Breakfast was fabulous...not only the food which is fresh and delicious, but the other guests who all proved to be very interesting. And,... More

This is one of the most lovely and hip guest houses I've stayed in. Our hosts Conway and Natasha were wonderful and accomodating. The food was delicious and privacy was respected. I was so pleased to end my time in Jo'burg at Lucky Bean and I will return again. More

Had a wonderful time at the Lucky Bean guest house. Hosts Conway and Tanya were wonderful and very accommodating and along with their staff including Derek with whom they work to transport clients to where ever they may want to go in Joburg. They made my stay in Johannesburg a very pleasant experience. Not only did I enjoy the stay,... More
