Stayed for 3 days and didn't want to leave. Great food, friendly staff and felt like home. A comfortable, relaxed atmosphere buzzing with friendly locals. A decent selection of ciders and real ales and a variety of home cooked food to choose from. The food is excellent, well presented and tasty! The rooms are clean, spacious and warm. Will definitely... More

Typical busy local English Country pub with good quality food and beer. Clean and Nice rooms - only thing to watch out for is that they are directly above the bar and restaurant and the sound insulation is poor. On our stay (friday night) the music was no issue at all - just loud people, but it didn't stop until... More

We were driving from Cornwall to London and wanted to have lunch. Rather than eating a burger or a dreary sandwich, we decided to exit the A303 at a point where there were a couple of villages very close by, in the hope of quickly finding a half decent country pub or tea room. We were very lucky to strike... More

We booked in for a two-night stay and had a thoroughly lovely time. The room was big and had Sky TV, the bathroom was big enough and the shower was amazing. The bed was big and super comfy - I think the pillows are the comfiest I've ever slept on. We were offered breakfast at a time that suited us... More

This was a one night stopover. However, thus was the first real taste of our summer holiday. The room although cosy offered period charm and was in good order and bed was comfy. The food dinner and breakfast was of high quality and the service was profession and friendly. The bar was again cosy and the locals drinking there were... More

We turned off the A303 looking for a pub lunch, were confused by the signs at the first pub we tried, so followed the signs to the White Lion - and were delighted by what we found. A friendly welcome, some excellent food and a nice garden to enjoy the sunshine. We had a lovely break at this characterful pub.... More

On arriving at pub from the outside it looks charming and inside parts of the pub are lovely . The room was small but adequate for price paid . However breakfast was little disappointing waiting half a hour and service very sloppy taking items from other used tables when needing items like milk . Chef that served us was very... More

My family and I have eaten here on a number of occassions (I would estimate 7-10 times) over the past 4-5 years, and I have nothing but praise for the consistency in the quality of food and service. We have been when it is not-so-busy, and I would say it can be a bit cold in the restaurant when it... More
