Wonderful hotel, we arrived late at night and the moment we arrived it was just perfect . We had a suite which was a huge bedroom separate lounge dining room. Huge balcony with a hammock - very private as well. There is a mini bar ( at a cost ) you also get a large bottle of water which you refill for free when ever you like from the pool restaurant. Breakfast is lovely fresh meats, cakes breads, bacon three kinds of eggs each day. Cereals yoghurts etc.. you can get food from the pool bar up until 6.30pm which is well priced and good. The gardens and pool are very pretty and plenty of loungers around. The hotel is very quiet and in big grounds. Very peaceful. There is nothing around and we had a car which was great to get to restaurants etc. there is a free shuttle a couple of times a day to take you into the town ( about 15 min away ) Food in the evenings - there is a restaurant which you have to book at about 30€ per person. Also the bar does a few snacks up until 10.30pm. Uber eats deliver there which was also good Overall if you want a beautiful peaceful holiday this is the place ! The staff are also very friendly and attentive all the time .

We arrived at this hotel in early afternoon however our room was not ready, the kind receptionist notified us that we can be contacted by WhatsApp when it would be ready and to go and enjoy the facilities.what a beautiful place, very well kept Gardens, and pristine pool area with ample sunbeds any time of day.the room was spotless clean with an exceptionally comfortable bed.the balcony offered sun later in the day which was nice whilst relaxing with a drink.the housekeeping staff work very hard to keep rooms in pristine condition and are always smiling regardless of their hard jobs. The reception staff were always happy to help at anytime of day and were particularly knowledgeable on the surrounding area.the only hiccup I can confirm is that the evening meals and service at the hotel need attention.i could tell from the outset that the hotel was short of staff during these times, everyone was rushing around back and forwards trying their best to meet dinner and bar orders. Unfortunately as a result of this, the food quality suffered as you could tell there was no love from the kitchen in your food and the restaurant manager was simply stressed out! Fix this staffing problem and the chefs way of serving food to guests and you have a great hotel with very good prospects.

My wife & I stayed at the Vale d’el Rei for 4 nights in early October. We visit the Algarve around twice a year and I have to say this is one of the best if not the best hotel we have stayed at in our many visits. First of all, the grounds the hotel sits in are extensive & immaculately kept. There are 2/3 pools, the main pool is salt water and heated during the colder months and is perfect for swimming in. There are enough sun beds, of good quality, to go round & we never once saw beds being reserved by the “crack of dawn brigade” Breakfast is served around the pool area & is a buffet style with plenty of good quality hot & cold options and all overseen by a very efficient & friendly staff who are constantly clearing, cleaning & replenishing food. A wonderful start to each day. We stayed in a suite, which was amazing value for money. It consisted of, an entrance area, a bathroom with overhead shower, a lounge with balcony off & a bedroom with a gigantic comfortable bed with good quality bed linen, double wardrobes with plenty of hangers and a safe that you didn’t have to pay extra to use. If there is a negative & I would have to search very hard for one, it’s that it’s a little remote. Although the hotel does provide a shuttle bus that runs into and from Carvoeiro several times a day. I would recommend you had a hire car which we always use when we visit the Algarve. This tiny negative would 1 million% not stop us visiting again & I have already enquired for our stay in 2024. Well done all at Vale d’el Rei, look forward to seeing you again next year.

Stayed for a recent short break and wish we had booked longer. The hotel is a mixture of rooms, suites and villas, set in stunning grounds. The suites have hammocks which provided the perfect place to lay in the sun, watching the sunset or a retreat at 2am when my husband was snoring … The rooms are spacious and well decorated, with plenty of in room facilities. We hired a car which I would recommend as it is quite up out of the way which is by no means a negative. They offer a day shuttle down into Caroviero, however if you wanted to go down in the evening for dinner, a car or taxi is needed. Breakfast every day was plentiful, offering numerous different option and seating inside and out. We ate so well at breakfast each day we didn’t have lunch the entire trip. We ate once at the hotels restaurant which provided a lovely 4 course meal for only €30 which was more than reasonable. The food was well cooked and seasoned and we enjoyed our evening there. Our only comment was that the waiting staff were pushed to get around the amount of customers, as at one point there was only one on his own who was clearly flustered. Additional staff to ease the pressures would have made for a nicer dining experience and also help the staff working as they also operate a service from the bar offering pizzas and other options. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our only regret was not staying longer. We are already planning to return.

This hotel is set in luscious gardens with the tranquil sound of birds. No loud music, animation or pool games to spoil a relaxing holiday. I stayed half board in a well equipped villa. Breakfast had plenty of choice, dinner needs improvement it's a bit bland. Hotel's not close to any amenities so a car or taxi to shop and eat out. Bar prices in the hotel and town both reasonable. Polite and helpful staff. I'll be back...

Dear Dippy Thank you for your comment and the positive description you give of your experience. It is indeed a peaceful place, with a lot of beauty, where being happy is easy and you can always count on the help of the staff. In relation to dinner, I believe that there is an increase in quality and we still have more ambition to make it even better. Regarding the location, yes, there is a lot of nature nearby but it is also close to everything. I hope to welcome you back soon. Best Regards André Pereira Hotel Manager

The hotel was very nice, and very clean, the room had a large bed, and plenty of storage space, the balcony was small, but had good views over the countryside, low walls at the side of the balcony gave very little privacy from the rooms next to us, there were only 3 plug sockets in the room, they were being used by their lamps and a coffee machine, so we had to unplug and use them. Breakfast was ok, but no egg chef, so eggs were brought out and left to congeal, the bacon was preformed, processed, bacon rashers, not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel, having said that, the cold breakfast, cheese salami ham, and fruit, was very nice, as were the pastries and cakes. The pool was salt water, but needed more umbrella's to accompany the sunbeds, the pool bar was good, the food was very nice, and the drinks reasonably priced, I'll give a mention to Carla, thanks for your help. Most B&B punters including us, went to the resort centre in the evening, some good restaurants to be had there, as this hotel is very remote, the taxi fare each way to the resort and back was 10/15 euros, the hotel provides a free bus, has to be booked, but the times didn't always suit us. The hotel bar in the evening was soulless, had zero atmosphere, on one occasion after returning from the resort centre, we decided to have a drink on the terrace before bed, just us sitting there, when a member of staff came out, said nothing, turned the lights off, and left us sitting in semi darkness. and last of all, the onsite shop is not quite Harrods, in fact it's not quite anything, total waste of space, unless you want flip-flops or a beachball.

Dear Michaele Thank you for taking the time to describe your experience. Thanks also for mentioning Carla; Our employees are, in fact, spectacular. I would like to assure you that the components of our breakfast are as fresh as possible; Most of them were made on the spot. As for the other points you make, I believe that it is a matter of perspective, parasols, for example, tend to be left over frequently; However, we will take a deep look at what you describe. A lovely hotel in beautiful gardens and surroundings, the grounds to the hotel were beautifully kept with lots of birds feeding on the grass. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice and warm freshly baked bread and pastries. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a good 10/15 mins drive out of town so a car is recommended , there is a free shuttle but times are limited, and no other restaurants locally . Water bottles are filled for free in the pool bar, so bring your own refillable bottle and it’s easy to keep hydrated and take you bottle out with you. The only slight gripe we had was a charge of 3 euros to change your pool towel, we didn’t have a balcony so our towel was often damp in the morning as we couldn’t dry it, I understand they want to cut down on unnecessary washing of towels but a towel not being washed with sunscreen drying into it for a week (even 2) must be harder to get clean than a damp 1 day use towel. I would recommend this hotel and stay again.

Dear Alison, Thank you very much for your comment and for the mentions of our spaces, the staff, the care we take in offering the water (not the bottle); Thank you!. As far as towels are concerned, our region is indeed going through a period in which the use of water has to be taken very seriously and sometimes deterrent methods and awareness are needed. It is not a question of charging but of awareness and I can assure you that at the reception, talking, it is possible to resolve the vast majority of issues in relation to stays. I can also tell you that we did change the towels for guests a few times and I don't even remember the last time the change was charged. I hope to welcome you again soon, Best regards André Pereira Hotel Manager

This fabulous hotel is located in spectacular well kept gardens brimming with wildlife and plants. It is so tranquil and an ideal hotel to relax and regenerate. The 2 saltwater pool are clean but a bit cold. There is a good choice of food by the pool but the evening dinner was a bit hit and miss but they are working on it. However it is nice to see Portugese style cooking. All the wines are from the Algarve. The breakfasts are fantastic with a huge choice including gluten free cereal and bread rolls. All the staff we met were very helpful and nice.

Stayed at this lovely hotel for 5 nights at the end of august. The hotel is well equipped and has some stunning scenery. The hotel staff were all very helpful and kind so thank you. The room was lovely and the gigantic bed was very cosy. All around everything was great. The one issue i had is with the buffet breakfast. My wife is allergic to milk and when we saw utensils being cross contaminated across multiple food items(e.g cheese food tongues being used on ham) it was annoying that she then couldn’t have this. Maybe the hotel should look at getting specific utensils for specific items of food. Also the allergy listings of what’s in the buffet breakfast was non existent, again which is frustrating when you’re trying to work out what you can and can’t have. This however didn’t ruin our experience and we would still highly recommend this hotel as a holiday location.

Dear JW Thank you very much for your review and also for the time you took to tell us about your experience. we will make a rigorous analysis of what you say about breakfast; I am sorry for the limitations you have encountered, but let me assure you that, of course, we have the list of allergens well exposed; Not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because the law dictates it. As for the utensils, we will also analyze them carefully, as these are very serious matters for us. I also thank you for the positive mentions of the room, the staff, the surrounding atmosphere. We had a fabulous stay at Vale d'El Rei! It is a bit off the beaten path, but we loved the tranquility and being away from the chaos of bigger cities. We stayed in a standard room, which met our needs and we found very comfortable. There are two pools - the large, main one which was often busier especially with kids, and a smaller one which we found to be more subdued and mostly adults. All of the staff we interacted with - from the front desk to the spa to the restaurant - were wonderful, and really went above and beyond for guests. The front desk staff had great recommendations and were very responsive on WhatsApp. Breakfast was delicious - a wide range of food, including breads, pastries, yogurt bar, fruit, cheeses, and then rotating types of eggs/veggies/meats. We had a rental car, and found the hotel to be pretty convenient (10-20 minute drives) for exploring the nearby beaches and Carvoeiro. We drove to Lagos one evening, which was ~30 minutes away. (We looked into the shuttle, but it only runs 2-3 times a day and has to be booked in advance. We also took Ubers a couple of times.) We will always remember our stay here fondly, and would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting the Algarve!
