We visited the Domain in September and were received with such a warm welcome by its owners that we knew we would be in for a relaxing time. A glass of chilled dry muscat wine on the terrace as the sun went down set the tone while the kids mixed with the owners’ children so we had no worries about them! The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast of homemade jam (I’ll never forget the apricot with lavender and a hint of ginger – my husband said the fig was the best jam he’d eaten in his life) then off to visit a series of Cathar castles in breathtaking scenery on hilltops where you could see for miles. In the afternoon we bathed in the rocky cove at Leucate - clear water great for snorkelling and plenty warm enough in September – and back in the evening for another glass of muscat on the terrace. The walled city of Carcassonne was only 45 minutes on the motorway and it made a great day out and Perpignan in the opposite direction was a revelation – what a wonderful town. The holiday... more
