Great hotel. We had a charming 3 room "orangerie" suite. Great place from where you can explore the Normandy Beaches. The host, James, is exceptionally helpful. James will gladly spend an hour talking about the chateau, the Normandy Beaches and the surrounding area. There is a charming XIII century small church in the village. A lady living in an adjoined... Whilst this hotel is a little bit off the beaten track, if you have a car it is a great location to visit the D-day beaches and sights. The setting could not be better. It is rural and old, but well maintained and James the Inn-keeper was very friendly, speaks good English and was always ready to help make dinner... More

A short drive from Bayuex and 20 minutes Omaha Beach, this Chateau was built in the 1350's. A beautiful setting in the country, the Chateau is surrounded by a mote and lovely gardens. James Hamel, the owner greated us and ushered us to our two large rooms, each with a large bathroom, and views overlooking the gardens and countryside. Breakfast... More

We stayed two nights at the Chateau de Vouilly, with our days spent touring the Normandy landing sites and visiting Bayeux. The chateau is beautiful, as are its gardens, and has an interesting history including its use during WW2 by the US Press Corps. The owner and host, James, is a very charming gentleman who gave us a warm welcome,... More

My husband stayed here after having been to the Classic Le Mans and asked Mr Hamel if he could leave his camping gear with him until his return a week later. My husband collected me from Cherbourg port (I didn't want to go to the CLM as I am not keen on camping and all that goes with it!! )... More

My husband and I and my 88 year old father-in-law (a WWII vet) stayed at Chateau Vouilly during the 65th anniversary of D-Day. The word "authentic" best describes Vouilly. The sense of centuries of history is almost palpable. Host James, inherited the Norman property from his grandmother. Vouilly had been the American press headquarters during D-Day; it is quite thrilling... More

My wife and I stayed here during the D-Day celebration this year (2009). We stayed for 4 nights. Our room (Giverney) was good sized and we had a perfect view of the Orangery. The breakfast room is delightful with WWII artifacts along two walls. The breakfast was typical French fare, bread and cheese with jam and coffee or tea. James,... More

A true gem, a warm welcome awaits those wanting a place with charm, character and tranquility. In a rural location yet close to main routes and attractions of Normandy. Whether you are visiting the D-day beaches, the Bayeux Tapestry or tasting the many delicacies of Norman cuisine, you could not find a better place to base yourself. We spent two... More

We have just returned from a weekend in Normandy and stayed at Vouilly for 1 night in order to be able to explore the Landing Beaches and nearby Bayeux. We were warmly welcomed by the owners and had an good room overlooking the garden. Typical french breakfast (croissant, french baguette and jam) was good and served in the beautiful dining... More
