The Eliot Arms is a lovely small hotel in South Cerney, but has new management since Jan 2009. We used to eat there regularly, but the last time we went (Feb 09), I was served a pie that was black around the edges, where the gravy had congealed to jelly, and the veg were frozen veg warmed up. The Manager here was the rudest person who I have ever met! Our meal took 2 HOURS! We were very nice about it, but there was not one apology. It is only 6 months since my last stay at the Eliot Arms. Since then, the rooming accommodation remains adequate, except for the incursion of cats. The biggest change I noticed was in the bars downstairs : 1.'Sacred Hill' red wine withdrawn and no adequate replacement. 2. Walkers crisps replaced by reconstituted crinkly cardboard crisps. 3.
