Not luxurious or pretentious but with all you'll need for a stay in this hidden region of Spain. All rooms have balconies overlooking the mountains towards Portugal in the distance. There's a pool, bar, a restaurant and, for more basic meals, a good cafeteria. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, the rooms clean and neat.
Jerez de los Caballeros is well worth a visit for its Templar castle and finely decorated churches - but try not to be tempted to take your car down the picturesque but tortuous narrow streets.
