For some reason this chain thinks it acceptible to charge guests £15 for a nights wi-fi. This is daylight (if not nightime) robbery and in protest I will not book Holiday Inn Express again until they stop ripping me off. Rooms are as basic as a Travel Lodge with little to commend them. Lots of hotels out there provide free... more

I'm doing a part time course at Newcastle Uni so I've stayed in Newcastle for 3/4 mid week nights every 5 weeks or so for the last year. I stayed in the Quality Hotel(!) in the city centre for the first two sessions and after that in this HIX. The hotel is fine, clean, basic and comfortable and the staff... more

We stayed for one night prior to a late afternoon flight out of Newcastle Airport. We hadn't booked, just walked in and got a double with breakfast for £65. Rooms are typical for Holiday Inn, staff pleasant and helpful, breakfast was just 'get you going' standard, very basic but plenty of it. Very handy for Metro Centre which is why... more

The rooms, in fact the entire hotel, was clean and modern, especially the bathroom, with ample facilities for our stay. The beds were very comfortable and... more

Stayed here last week for one night only. Check-in was the speediest ever in any hotel I have used and check-out was the same. Took 20 minutes to get there by taxi from Newcastle Central station and I wasn't keen on the area surrounding the hotel itself. Right opposite is a TGI Friday restaurant which was handy as the hotel... more

I've no complaints about this hotel. There's no need to walk to the Metrocentre to get public transport into town either; there's a regular bus service from the road outside the hotel. more
