The views are super and the self-catering cottage (Fire-Fly) was pleasant and had the basics - including a coffee plunger. We arrived on a rainy, windy and cold afternoon, with snow on the surrounding mountains. So we only got the view the following day. Unfortunately the little things which make for a memorable stay were missing. An electric blanket was... More

This place really is on the edge of the world! Amazing views from the cliff-top location, with serene surroundings and sunsets to die for! We stayed in the peach blossom cottage. Accommodation is spacious, and perfectly adequate and private, but this is not the place to go for luxury - as the price reflects! We had some issue with the... More

This resort is in easy reach of Port Elizabeth via a picturesque road through the mountains. The views are spectacular especially for walkers. The resort is very welcoming and the rondervals so comfortable. We part self catered, the facilities were good, but there is a great restaurant for days off. Not to be missed as a change from the coastal... More

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to! The labyrinth was such a unique experience! Our room the chestnut cottage at by-the-way was huge and had all of the things one needs for a relaxing family holiday. We were very impressed, was even worth the extended trip to get there!

My wife & I visited in the new year with the in-laws & 2 friends of theirs. We happened to pick the only Irish day in early January but had a ball despite the rain. The accommodation was perfect for self catering with all our needs catered for. Disappointing to need a fire on the 2nd of Jan but great... More

My wife and I spent 6 nights staying at The Edge in 'Thunderstone' and exploring all that Hogsback has to offer. The views from Thunderstone and all around The Edge are fantastic. We spent many hours relaxing on the veranda watching the sun set over the mountain. There are non "mod-cons" to speak of and we didn't miss them. We... More

I'm not gonna delve too much in the forested town of Hogsback. I think reviewers here have covered it aptly. We stayed at 'the edge' in a self catering cottage appropriately named "heavens above'. The cottage had everything we required for a romantic getaway. A soothing fire place, A Victorian bathtub overlooking forested mountains and distant waterfalls. Then theres the... More

Not everybody will get to visit Hogsback as its certainly well of the beaten track but its an absolute Gem ... Wherever you are from this town is probably different from there, in a way that you'll love and if you're from a town like this you'll love it for the same reasons that you live far from the hustle... We booked three nights at The Edge over New Years more than 7 months before our visit (and paid the deposit at that time). It was a good choice and we enjoyed our stay, but I'm still a little annoyed that we were asked to pack up and move from one cottage to another during our stay because they had... More

We stayed over at the edge one night only. We came late in the afternoon and had tea outside while the mist started rolling in...magical. Had a great supper the evening and some of the best food we have had in a while. The service was very friendly. Will stay here again.
