We have just made reservations for our fifth week-long stay here. As I read some of the reviews, I was sometimes astounded. First, the owner is immensely helpful and pleasant. She has a number of driving itineraries for the area, which is interesting and extensive. We have never run out of new places to go to in our previous four... More

Set within 100 acres with a river , a Donjon, and various livestock and domestic pets, this historic chateau, a mile or two out of Avallon was a perfect overnight stop for us.They have certainly created a homely atmosphere in the luxurious setting. The indoor swimming pool is absolutely fabulous. Our room was beautifully furnished-and glasses of wine with nibbles was delivered... More

We stayed one night on our way to Bungudy last week. We had Flavigny Room. It is a great room on its own. The room is very big with a beautiful huge bathroom and walk in closet. The welcome drink was great. The Chateau is nice but not as beautiful as some of the other Chateau hotels in the region.... More

My husband and I just spent two days at the Chateau de Vault de Lugny as part of a hiking vacation -- we walked up all sweaty with our packs and were plunged into wonderful luxury, surrounded by a moat -- wow! Our room, which was clearly not the most expensive at the chateau, was a large room with a... More

My wife and I visited this establishment during our honeymoon in France during the summer of 2011. The service, grounds, rooms and staff are absolutely top notch. I had perhaps the finest meal of my life at their restaurant. The charm of this wonderful chateau is almost beyond description. The animals on the ground provide constant entertainment. One of my... We stayed at the chateau as part of a Backroads trip through Burgundy, and it met all of the high standards that we've come to expect from Backroads. We had a lovely (and very large) room overlooking the front lawn, and it was delightful to hear the honking geese and drumming turkey in the evening. (I'm not quite sure what... More

A great place to stay to visit this part of Bourgogne. Wonderful park, nice old charm chateau, excellent and very friendly staff. Modern life seems far away (and no mobile internet), history very present,no stress around. An immens plane tree dating form 1620(!) gives the perfect inspiration for planning excursions or just watch the day go by. Nothing wrond with... More

We stayed for a couple of nights with our two daughters (13 and 10) this summer. On the positive side the owners were very nice and involved in the operations. They were engaging and friendly. We found the staff similarly very nice. The food was excellent and we very much enjoyed both dinners that we had. In fact, the dinners... More

Using our trusty GPS,we arrived in the afternoon. We were a bit dismayed as the promised and confirmed room was not available, since its occupants elected to stay longer. We were given another room at the junior suite level and found it to our liking. There was an elegant bathroom with double sinks and all was well lit. The bedroom... More
