We stayed two nights on the Rhine and I found a nice hotel/restaurant in Spay, just across from Marksburg Castle. The double room was spacious with a separate sitting area. No bathtub though, and no refrigerator. From one window in the room you can see the castle , and from the other window you can spot the Rhine. It's well away from the bahnhof, so noise from the train wasn't an issue. The hotel is about 150 meters from the river promenade, and the hotel had plenty of free parking in a private lot, half of it partially covered. We ate two nights at the hotel, once in the Biergarten, once indoors. Both nights the place was packed. The food was delicious. A larger dessert menu would have been nicer, as it was over 30 celcius both days. A bit disappointed in the breakfast - not much choice, but they did cook my hard boiled eggs to my liking. Dinged it a bit for location since unless you have a car, Spay is a bit lonesome. But I travel with car and will look into the hotel... more
