Didn't realise this place was so out of way, deep into countryside. Horrendous roads on route. Nice place when you eventually get there, very quiet. Hotel itself is very average. No dining room available as the bar is used as one so therefore no bar available.

Have visited a few times lately as it was recommended by a local. Been living in the area a few years and hadn't heard of it ( living less than half hour away). What a beautiful little tranquill spot. The staff make the place, the doorman Liam is exceptional, friendly to young and old with a few words for everyone. He broke into happy birthday for a guest a day we were there making everyone join in. It was great fun. More important food is exceptional. The slow cooked beef and fish and chips are our favourites. Beef is 26 euro but well worth it. it's truly exceptional. Soup a let down at 7.50 for small little bowl ( little white school size bowl). Mushroom and coconut pie also beautiful and the chicken wings a big hit with my son.The coffee not great no batista just machine coffee...a small hiccup in an otherwise wonderful experience. The warmth and friendliness here are a reminder of what service used to be like in Ireland and a rare find nowadays. Lovely log fire in the bar with views over the stunning lake....not what you'd expect on Cavan/Westmeath border but what a find!! Service with older staff is exceptional, some of the younger ladies in dining still getting there...no butter with the bread for soup no hand wipes with wings. These are only tiny things. The food, ambience and service is superb ifyouu want to feel like you are away on holiday come for a walk around the lake and a beautiful lunch. Not sure if Liam is the owner or just staff but he is what makes this place. Will be back. P.S...do book as you won't get a table for Sunday lunch without one.

Stayed here the Feb bank holiday on the Sunday night.Beautiful hotel and fabulous food. You really have to make a visit if only for the melt in your mouth steaks which you cook to your own liking on a hot stone at your table. This is a wonderful experience. The receptionist Mary is so helpful, efficient and professional and couldent have been more thoughtful.Even posting an item I left behind which arrived the very next day.A truly valued employee .Will definitely return.

From my dealings with Tracy and our requests before we arrived (All Met and were Perfect - Thank You Tracy your a star), to the warm and welcoming greating from the Elderly Concierge Gentleman who was an absolute Gent both he and all the staff in the Bistro where the food and atmosphere were exceptional, the bar staff Aaron and Lauren were very attentive and remembered my request for 3 wedges of lime in my Gin and Tonic and made my wife Marian a Superb Irish Coffee. The Deluxe Room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the Happy Birthday Plate with Cake and Fruit a Lovely Touch. The view out of the lake was beautiful and the bed was large and very comfortable and gave such a peaceful nights sleep, the bathroom had luxury toiletries and the shower was powerful and hot, everything about the room was A1. After a goods night rest we headed to the restaurant for the Irish Breakfast which was buffet style and was exceptional, probably the best Full Irish I have had in ALL my travels worldwide (One suggestion some Boxty or Soda Bread :) ), this coupled with the attentive staff once again made this a stay that lived up to Cead Mille Failte (A thousand Welcomes) Crover House Keep doing what you are doing it works!!! Marian and I will be Back, A Great Hotel, Great Ambience, Great Atmosphere with a staff 2nd to None.

This hotel is a little gem. I booked it for my 40th Birthday with family and we stayed for 2 nights. The staff are by far the most friendliest and professional I have ever dealt with. Nothing was too much hassle. They made our stay wonderful from beginning to end. The food was absolutely delicious. I also booked the Courtney room for my birthday dinner. Dion and all the staff were extremely helpful and the room was beautiful. We will definitely be back. Thanks for making our stay memorable.

Clover House is a mixture. The location is absolutely beautiful, if you are fortunate to get one of the rooms overlooking the Lough (rather than the rear carpark) then you could easily spend hours just looking at the scenery. The room we had was traditional, decor-wise, everything was clean and the staff did a great job of maintaining it. We had a fairly new style shower which was very good (others have reported issues with older showers) and I'm guessing that the owners are gradually updating the interior as and when. Bed was on a par with Premier Inn, we also had a second single in the large room. A useful desk and chair, occasional table and side chair completed the furnishings. A good-sized wardrobe with a safe, iron and ironing board inside was provided together with a hair-dryer. Tea/coffee-making facilities and bottled water were provided. Wifi is free and is immediately available, no need to register with an outside company, which was rather refreshing, but probably understanding considering the location of the hotel. Digital TV (not tried) with a sanitised remote completed the in-room facilities. Breakfast was included with the overnight price. We stayed for 4 nights, the first two were a Sunday and Monday when there was an excellent buffet breakfast. The other two nights were a 'cooked to order' breakfast menu which was not as good – there were fewer staff and so the choice was more limited, first morning the service was not as good with orders incorrect, second morning was better and the changes requested were done properly. Apparently the buffet breakfast is only there when there are more than 50 guests. Evening meals are reasonably priced. If there are more than two people then it's worth booking on busy days. Everything on the menu was available and we had no complaints with the quality. We don't eat meat but the steaks we saw were probably the best we've seen in a while and other customers were happily tucking in. As mentioned, the location is idyllic. There are loads of places to stroll around including the loughside, a little fairy grotto in the well-maintained and interesting gardens, woodland walks. There is a nine-hole golf course which appears popular but it doesn't intrude on other guests enjoyment. The only slightly small issue was that the room had a sign recommending that the windows were kept closed due to 'small lake flies', which I took to be midges. Unfortunately there is no other ventilation and after one very restless, airless night we had to open the windows slightly the remaining time. No flies appeared but this may not be the same at other times of the year. When we are in Cavan again this will be our absolute choice of accommodation, firmly recommended.

I don't normally write reviews but I feel compelled to share my experience with the wonderful staff of this hotel. We had an issue with our third-party website booking and the hotel staff were significantly more helpful than the website itself. The receptionist genuinely went out of their way to remedy the situation- even though it was no fault of theirs. On top of that it was only the second time we had travelled anywhere with our baby and we were blown away at the attention she received. Everyone from hotel staff to the restaurant workers made time for her and the entire family left after one night with huge smiles on our faces. The only downside was that the weather was poor when we visited so we didn't get to explore the beautiful looking grounds- but after the experience we had here it won't be long before we return (and hopefully we'll get the weather next time).

Crover House Hotel is a beautifully mantained 18th century house in a fabulous location on the shores of Lough Sheelin in county Cavan. All staff most welcoming, helpful and professional esp head waiter and morning supervisor in dining room.Good selection for breakfast, fresh very well presented.Dinner was excellent on both evenings, tasty & well presented. Some rooms could do with a little updating but all are scrupously clean and very well serviced. There was a wedding fair on the day we arrived and we could see the huge appeal this house wiuld have for weddings both inside and out.The grounds are beautifull landscaped with ample ideal opportiunities for photos near the lake. The golf club boasts a well mantained 9 hole course in the scenic surroundings. This house is ideal for a quiet couples retreat, a wedding or golf outing, surrounding roads not very safe for walking or taking care of young children. We would highly recommend a stay at Crover hse & golf resort.

60th Diamond Wedding Anniversary celebration for my Parents.. Staff could not have been more welcoming and attentive to my parents and us, complimentary bottle of champagne and cake in their Room. Lovley Liam gave a toast to my parents at dinner and also sang to them making my parents feel so special, even at breakfast this morning the head waitress brought pancakes lit up with a huge sparkler. The rooms are beautiful, clean and bright. We had a dog friendly room again beautiful with a wet room, so keeping the dogs clean was no hassle. The grounds of the hotel are immuculate, the views are stunning and the flower display fantastic, what more could anyone ask for! This was our second visit to the hotel and won't be our last, thank you for making this celebration so memorable.
