My adult daughter and I enjoyed our first night ever in Ireland at the Old Convent (which really is an old convent lovingly refurbished into a luxury inn). We loved the countryside location and the beauty of the well-appointed interior. Our room was a two-room suite with a beautiful view and a gorgeous canopy bed. The sitting rooms and dining... more

If you love great food in a stylish enviornment then treat yourself. When we arrived we admired the fruit trees, herb garden and hen house and speculated about what might be on the menu - pears yes, apples yes, beetroot yes, fresh eggs yes. Food was elegantly flavoured with a light touch and a super tasty, lick the plate, result.... more

The house is beautiful, renovated really nicely. Christine and the other staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food was absolutely delicious. Taster menu was fantastic and breakfast was all very fresh and wholesome with local and organic produce. A double aspect drawing room enabled guests to mingle with little cupcakes (very tasty!) laid on. A kitchen/games room upstairs had tea... more

i cannot find a single fault with this place, the room was perfect, the food was excellent and we had a lovely relaxing stay. we stayed in the loft suite which had a standalone tub in the bathroom, perfect for relaxing before the 8 course dinner! breakfast the next morning was the nicest we have ever had. i only wish... more

Stayed here over Easter. As others on this site have said the food is devine. No need to over elaborate - you must try it. Christine was an excellent hostess, and the place itself is very nice. On the downside there are no televisions in this establishment. I wanted to watch a certain rugby match and fortunately found a great... more

The term "hidden gem" is over-used in travel reviews but this is a true hidden gem. This is not the place to go for big hotel facilities, such as pools and gyms, but if you want to relax and enjoy great food for a few days then this is where to go. Effectively you have the run of the house... more

This was our third stay in The Old Convent and really it just gets better and batter - if that's possible! Dermot and Christine are back from a break away with even more zest and enthusiasm. In keeping with the times they have introduced a €25 dinner in the drawing room. The €65 eight course tastings menu is unmatched anywhere... more

The most romantic hotel I have ever stayed in. The food was amazing and our hostess Christine is wonderful - she made us feel like we were her personal guest. Had a great room with a fourposter. From our bed we could even see the mountains. The 8 course menu was also a real treat. I can recommend anyone I... more

We stayed here in February with another couple and had an amazing time. The welcome is warm and friendly, the food is great, the rooms are really gorgeous. The location is rural with some good hill walks around. My boyfriend had apparantly been waiting for an appropriate time to propose, and liked this place so much he popped the question... more

I am stuck for words to describe how fab this place is. As soon as you walk in the door and are given the tour you just feel at home and relaxed. We stayed in the aforementioned No. 4 and yes a little on the small side but we thought perfect. The couch was nice and cozy in the corner... more
