My wife and I were staying in the area and were out on a bimble when the hunger pangs started. It was mid afternoon on lovely late February day when wecame upon the above establishment. Unfortunately we were told the chef had just finished for the day. The kindly landlady however asked the chef if he would prepare meals for us.He... More

We spent another night at this old world type pub/hotel, after a visit last year. The staff are most obliging, breakfast was good, although I would have liked some fresh fruit on offer. Our room was very comfortable, and quite spacious. My only small niggle(and it is a small one) was that there was no soap in the bathroom. We... More

After a walk round Skipton market, I was unsure where to go for lunch, when I realised I had never really given the Devonshire much thought, and ventured in for a good look around the place. It really is a grand old building, built around 1780. I am usually a real ale drinker, but unfortunately, on this occasion there were... More

Been here about 3 times now and it's always been good. Was very quiet and they were serving carvery, ordered the soup and was Luke warm which is always a bad start to the lunch! Can't be hard for a decent chef to know how to make soup! Carvery next and good selection of meats but selection of veg was... More

To call this a hotel really misses the point. It is a pub with rooms, and on the face of it a very nice one. The decor is not fussy and there is a seperate dining room for larger groups or those not wishing to sit in the main bar area. This is the reason for the review. We are... More

I just stayed one night. The bar is very comfortable, and the staff very helpful. Food in the bar was very nice. Room was comfortable. A bit of traffic noise out the front, but not a problem for me especially as there is hardly any traffic at night. My only complaint was the late starting time for breakfast- 9am, though... More

We stayed at The Devonshire for 1 night, after a wedding reception at the nearby village hall. We had room 1, was huge with a jacuzzi bath, shame we weren't there long enough to use it. Breakfast the following morning was superb, i've stayed in lots of b&b's but can only recall 1 breakfast that was better. Service was good... More

We booked the Devonshire Arms for a private function providing supper for 65 guests, arriving between 7:30 and 9:30pm. The food included three hot dishes and several salads. Our guests commented that the hot dishes were delicious; the salads were fresh and appetising; and the meals were served by friendly and efficient staff who were obviously concerned to provide a...
